I like him as a player, think he'd be a good squad player and he'd probably be happy to be that

Christ almighty. We are on a MARKETING tour in USA and Robbie Manc goes to praise their most iconic players, even 'hinting' that he might be interested. Isn't that exactly what marketing is about? Liking the arseholes of your target market?

Doubt we'll ever see him in City unless Cook starts pushing this through as marketing operation.

Btw, Donovan is decent player and good influence. However there's simply too many players ahead of him in our squad. He'd never get a game.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Spot on - Mancini would not exactly be acting in CITY's interests to reply something like"... well OK for a yank player I guess - but pretty shit otherwise and no way would I consider him....." - that would be somehting to criticise Mamcini for

I realy struggle with all this media hatred. SSN are a news station and are reporting news, it may not be the most accurate or worthy story but the rabid reaction to it is fucking pathetic.

Lot of it on the board at the moment. It's almost like a badge of honour...........I hate the media more than you!!!

People need to chill out and appreciate that we are currently pissing all over the rest of the league in terms finance and spending. We are after a lot of players, we have signed a lot of players and have spent a shit load of money. News agencies are going to link us with people and blow any news snippet out of proportion. It's all part of the growth and isn't a negative.

You can say whatever you want about Donovan, 'not being good enough,' or not 'first squad;'
but he's better than a number of players on this team and he deserves a try.

And he's overcome every challenge thrown at him: As a Yankee City fan, I expect
some basic courtesy regarding Landon Donovan
, keep the raspberries and piss-takes
for the pub.

If we signed Donovan, we'd sell enough City shirts in the USA to pay for his fee/wages.
Good bit of of marketing I reckon. Gives the yanks another Manchester team to think about.

Then if we do sign him, good luck to the fella. He's a decent enough player and if he can make the first team, fair play to him.

Same old news conference story isn't it? As they are in America an idiot reporter asks if he would like, or what does he think of Donovan. He can hardly say he's a useless cunt now can he?

So, as Mark says, typical SKY for making it a story, and typical supporters for getting histrionic over the possibility!

You're being a bit over sensitive? If you read back the thread I'm struggling to find any piss taking, just an odd comment that says he's shite, most people just saying he'd be a good squad player, which I agree with.

I'd have nothing against him as a squad player & have complimented him but I don't think he's better than ANY of our 1st choice forwards, just different, & I like having different options. I doubt Mancini will sign him though unless it's to fill a gap left by transfers out. If people are coming on here expecting posters to mince words about their views of players through fear of upsetting their nationalistic bias though, I really think they've come to the wrong place!

This morning I heard Mancini's quote on SSN too - it's also followed directly by a BUT - basically saying he is well down the list of potential signings and it would depend on what happened with them (in otherwords thanks for inviting us to your country, you are nice friendly people and we think you have some half decent players, oh and by the way Man City shirts are available by mail order)

That's not really true at all though now is it? He failed to break through in Bayern Leverkusen and didn't make much impact at all in Bayern. He was decent in Everton though.

His reputation is mostly built on his excellent performances for US national team.

And EVERY player in the world is open for pisstake. Certainly every single one that don't play for City. What American's think of people taking the piss out of Donovan, German's piss taken out of Lahm, Greek about Samaras and so on and so on has fuck all to do with Manchester City. I've been called racist for calling Samaras and Lahm shit by the way. Hilarious.
