Wouldn't really be a surprise would it...the guy is world class

He's slipped of the hype map. People are talking about him as good/decent and wondering when we're going to buy Torres or make a big signing. He hasn't shown up for friendlies yet. Where's the excitement. I'm waiting for a few people here to make team predictions for the season/early matches and actually omit him (purely by mistake).

I don't think it's sunk in yet. Robinho set the world alight, Tevez was welcomed to the city, Adebayor was hugely exciting. We sign Silva - most people have been talking about whether we'll sign Milner (for the same money).

Haha in that respect you're right...for some reason he seems to have fallen off the radar...the guy that the rags were chasing for some time

weird how spoilt we are these days

Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Under 21 Prem Player: Benik Afobe.

Absolute Star of the season: David Silva (i've gut feeling he is gonna light this league up, messi style. Can't wait to see him!)

Excellent shout that. I was well impressed with him evry time I watched him last season. Pace, two feet, great cross. He's also exactly the type of player I was looking for people to bring up - either under-performers (Berbatov) or non-household names (Dorrans, Chung-Yong). Him and Petrov might drag them into the top half next season if they can keep finding the heads of those two lumps (bit harsh on Davies I know) up front. They've not had two players that exciting since the early days of Allardyce (Djorkaeff, Okocha etc.).

Or what's left of them. Maybe they can piece together one working human out of the working scraps of all three. The Baconface Monster.

I agree regarding a lot of those already named but some others would have to include:

Chamank (or however you spell it) for Arsenal - He will bang them in up top for Arsenal and prove to be a fantastic piece of buisness coming in on a free...

Petrov for Bolton - If he can stay fit and selectable he will have a great year with Bolton lining up opposite the youngster from south korea whom someone else already mentioned.

Bent for Sunderland - I just have a gut feeling that he will bang in a shit load of goals up north this year.

Thank you for your confidence in my wonderous predictive skills. I am touched.
In recognition of your kind words, I might not slag City off so much this year.
As long as they don't have the audacity to try and beat the wonderful all conquering Liverpool, or my mate Fergie's side.

Twitchy will be immense this year.

An even bigger prick than last season.

Also Joey Barton will get the Cliff Richard award for not assaulting anyone.

Alioune DVToure wrote:Get your predictions in for the surprise stars of the 2010/2011 season. I'll start.

City: Ireland, Richards.

Elsewhere: Lucas (Liverpool), N'Gog (Liverpool), Benayoun (Chelsea), A.Young (A.Villa), Berbatov (Munes), Bentley (Spurs), Barton (Newcastle), Carroll (Newcastle), Dorrans (West Brom).

Thought I'd dig this up to see who's winning the battle of foresight. Here's how I assess how mine are doing:

City:
IRELAND - Gone but shit at Villa. Head not right.
RICHARDS - Pretty good all in all when fit.

Elsewhere:
LUCAS - Poor
N'GOG - Excellent in my opinion. Filled the massive shoes of the not-right Torres under huge pressure.
BENAYOUN - Made fuck all impression and now injured I believe.
YOUNG - Been brilliant from what I've seen.
BERBATOV - Same as above.
BENTLEY - No impression.
BARTON - Kept his nose clean and has become Newcastle's most influential player.
CARROLL - Strange, volatile lad but looks promising. Has the right attributes.
DORRANS - Very disappointing. Can't even nail down a starting berth.

I'm awarding myself a score of 6 out of 11 so far (55%).

This was an early-August thread. I might be wrong, but I think they only signed him right at the death.

I'm having the ones I've highlighted. That gives me a score of 5/11.

Ireland, Bentley and Dorrans have to be my most laughably crap predictions, along with Crossie's Joe Cole.

Some good shouts for Lescott and Hernández.

Wonder if Beeks is ready to give Micah his dues yet?

kinkylola wrote:I think Jovanovic will turn out to be a good player for pool ... I dont know about "star", but we'll see. I also think Torres will have a great season playing with a partner upfront. Cole will play well too.

I think Santa Cruz will go on loan to fulham, and will do very well for himself. Dempsey will play well too.

I think Hart will go on loan again and be a star

I think Toure (Kolo) will have a great season for us.

I think smalling will look horrible this season, but the mexican will have soem good cameos for the scum.

I think Adebayor will have a cracking season for us (surprise? I dunno) and Barry. Ireland will become a stable player again (not a star season though)

I think Barton will play well.

I think Milner will stay at villa and have a great season, agbonlahor will have a standout year.

Defoe will have a star season.

Nasri will stand-out in the arsenal team.

I think malouda will stand out for chelsea.

I think charlie adam will play well in a poor blackpool side

I think Rodwell will have a breakout season (think milner last year and ireland the year before) at everton.

That's all I care to do.

Also I don't know why I feel like I have to add this here ...

I think we will line up 4 across the back (boateng toure lescott kolarov)

3 in mid field (Barry Yaya Kompany/Vieira)

3 attack, most likely drifting around (Tevez Adebayor Silva)

I guess I had to explain that to explain why I think barry will have a standout year for us.

Didn't spot that before. Cracking pre-season shout!

Sort of makes up for the Jovanovic prediction before it
