Ah Pink Ball.. ok now we can ask who got it week by week and no doubt Doomy will come out with some sleezy sounding inuendo about it.

Sounds like your dog knew you were going to forget it.. and was trying to do you a favour!

It is great to read these reports by the way.

We thought it was a broken ankle as a snap was heard, luckly it wasn't but she has got a bad ligament tear. Linda is actually on loan from Liverpool who are a super league team and playing for them is how she earns her cash. She been playing for us to keep up her fitness before there season starts in April. She told me that it's day 2 of crutches and she bored already. Hoping she should be right for the start of her season. She will be a massive loss for us as she is top class!!

Absolute nightmare. MHiggi saw teh game and told me he thought it looked like a break - touch and go whether a break is worse than a ligament, depending on the doctor's verdict. Good luck to her.

On the plus side, we won and apparently you had a bloody good game!?

I did ok, always look at my game and what I can do better. I’m probably my harshest critic. I have found that as iv got older my game is more consistent but I do put a lot more effort into my training and do look after myself outside of football. I don’t drink and do about 30 miles of walking a week give or take.

4-0 win away at Newcastle. The best game iv played in for City Ladies in three years, was a real joy to be part of. Can actually see players now engaging there brains and learning to keep the ball and make the correct decsions. For how crap we were last week we were brillant all over the pitch today. This puts us 6 or 7 point clear at the top with games in hand. Will post the match report up later.

City continued their unbeaten league form with an impressive 4-0 thumping of the Magpies on a bleak Sunday afternoon in the North East.

The Ladies started the game on the same high tempo that put paid to Villa’s efforts the week before, and as early as the second minute of the game Krystle Johnson was testing Newcastle’s keeper with a shot from a corner.

Two minutes later City broke the deadlock when Becky Grocott headed home to give City the lead. Newcastle rallied and got back into the game for a short period until Johnson got on the end of a long pass from Lindsay Savage to go one on one with the keeper before making it 2-0 with only 37 minutes gone.

The game was almost put beyond Newcastle’s reach when Fliss Middleton headed home five minutes from the break only to have the goal disallowed for an alleged push on the keeper.

The second half started much the same with City dominating possession and being allowed to play their passing game. City’s Sarah Danby made it 3-0 on the hour with the second header of the game, and just eight minutes later Becky Grocott got her second and City’s fourth when she coolly converted a low cross from the right to beat the keeper at the far post.

City continued to dominate the game, allowing the City manager to use his three substitutes to keep the team fresh, however Abbie McManus twisted her knee and was unable to continue with five minutes to go leaving City to see out the with only 10 players.

Manager Leigh Wood said, "A good three points today in what could have been a tough game.  We dominated from start to finish scoring four very good goals.  We now look forward to Leeds City Vixens away next week. Well done everyone."

Great result and report Andie. Sounds like you had an easy game! Two headed goals too , do you think you could get this talent passed on to the other teams?

I think we should maybe borrow them a bit of our team sprit and banter which is excellent. We could really win the league this year and the belief is starting to show within the team.

Yeah we play Leeds next week whom we failed to beat last season. It's not that they are a better team they are just super physical and I think our girls sometimes struggle with this approach. We kinda of mirror the mens team in that we play better against teams that play football and struggle with the more robust.

Their pitch is also shite and that IMO is a leveler. I know that when we get them to COMs we will pass them to death but we have no chance of doing that at their ground. From looking at their results they have been letting goals in left, right and centre so we have to fancy our chances. The week after it's Rochdale which will be a local derby, they seem to be free scoring but like Leeds have a leaky defense.

looks like Leeds got slammed recently both away and at home.

So do you do any special training to deal with the pitch? .. like go and train all week on a rough pitch!

No we won't we will contiune to train on our lovely 3G pitches but it will be up to the likes of me, Sav (our skip)and Lynda ( on loan from Liverpool) to get into the players and make sure there mentality is right and not to be thinking negatively.

Thats true.. if you start thinking the pitch will effect play then half the game is lost already.

On the same issue i remember during the WC there was a game where the commentators were going on about the pitch because it had been flagged as being really poor and cutting up, it was Japan or Chile or Korea, cant remember but the point being Japan or whoever it was didnt put a ball wrong the whole game and it made a whole nonsense of the argument about the pitch, they played a passing game and just got on with it, perhaps with a bit more pace to their passes and to good effect, the pitch didnt effect them at all.

We are in a very privileged position at City as we get to play on one of the best pitches around. We have been pretty lucky so far this season in that when we have played away the pitches have been pretty good, the facilities in general are not as good but the pitches have been ok.

It tends not to bother someone like me as much as ive being playing for such a long time and have been used to some bogs (anyone ever played on Walker Lane in Hyde, Blocksages in Dukinfield, Torkie Park in Stockport or Mill Lane in Hyde) and could still manage to play at bit. Ive had to get changed in a car in the past or in a porter cabin. The kids at City look at me look at me funny when I tell them the story’s of back in the day and how crap it was for me growing up playing football.

I can recall playing on Hyde United in the early 90s when they had old fashioned astro, my god back then it was the real deal, no one cared that it took half your skin with it if you fell over or slid in for a tackle. We just thought we had arrived and were superstars. I can guarantee you wouldn’t get me anywhere near that type of astro again!!

Leeds City Vixens 0- Man City Ladies 4

Another 3 pts which puts us 7 pts clear at the top of the league I think. Leeds were our bogey team last season so a really great result. Will post the match report tomo.

Thanks

Iv agreed that if we go up I will stay for another year despite being put off by a rather heavy challenge on me today. Can't really afford time off work and and any more challenges like that could see me off. Saying that the dirty fucker who hit me hobbled off for treatment wheres I just dusted myself down and got on with it.......pussy!
