Ok, it wasa red but you can't expect an even competition when one team plays 85 minutes on 90 down to 10 men, there should be a rule preventing sending offs so early in the game. Maybe instead of a red a penalty could be given, even if the foul is outside the box? Today I would have preferred being one goal down after 5 minutes than down to ten men, had we been down 1-0 so early on but with eleven players we would have turned it.

A red's a red if it's in the first or last minute.

What the ref needs to do is be consistant, that means not bottling second yellows.

The ref, whilst poor in overall decision making, actually made the right calls in all the big decisions.

As much as I'd like to blame him for the result I cannot. Boyata needs to take a large slice of responsibility. Mancini should also take responsibility too. Lescott should have started the game in Boyata's position and we may have got something out of this game.

Even 11 v 11 though, I think Arsenal had the edge today and would have taken 3 points regardless. Our defense was far too static today which was disappointing. Only Richards and Hart can take any credit from our defense today.

Today's game was the first time we've lost a game in the premier league refereed by Clattenburg, and it was his 17th City game. Nothing to do with anything really, just a fact.

Whilst Twattenburg may have made a number of big decisions right he made several of the smaller decisions totally wrong, he wasnt even close on several occasions.

He had a bad day OVERALL despite a few decisions going his way.

Well that just shows how bad a referee he is when he can rack up 18 games with 1 defeat and I still can't fucking stand him.

NO complaints about the ref today. As a fan you feel hard done by but he made the calls as he saw them. Just a shame the Arsenal players took it in turns to get yellows. Very professional.

I thought at the time it was a red, whereas those around me seemed surprised. But seeing it on telly, the ball had been knocked long and was through to Hart. The rules talk about preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity, not about him being 'last man'. Is it a clear chance when the keeper has the ball?
I've seen the penno from one angle only and it still looks like Vinnie gets the ball to me.

Apologies if I offended anyone yesterday with this post...i'd just got back from an all day drinking session and was very disappointed with the result...Like KK mentioned though I was really referring to the fact that people at home had the benefit of a replay and most in the ground...including me thought he had got it badly wrong...i've not seen match of the day as I passed out but it seems the correct decision was made due to the replies

I apologise in return IBH for jumping to conclusion, without maybe thinking you didn't mean it the way I read it. Heat of moment and suppose when your in the stands you just see it once. Such is man, nothing we can do to change anything.

He got the penalty and red card right in my view

What he did get wrong IMO was not booking Song for twatting (I think) Silva in that feisty post goal period and then when he got his second yellow later he should have been off

I always fear for City when he is the ref but, except for a yellow card not given to Song in the first half, I think he did well yesterday!

Did the ball go out of play just before their 3rd goal? It certainly looked that way to me.

Re-watched it when I got in last night and it's hard to tell to be honest, probably just about stayed in.

However, there was a clear handball by Nasri when he first controlled it before the ball possibly went out. Saw it clear as daylight during the game and it looked nailed on when I re-watched it. Unfortunately the linesman was too busy fucking about flagging Ade offside to actually watch the play.

What about NO red cards in the first 15/20 mins for eg - except of course for violent conduct - sick of having games spoilt like this - at least everyone would know where they stood

Come on mate that can not be a serious thought. How can you justify sending someone off in the 21st minute for exactly the same challenge someone else did a couple of minutes before. The game today wasnt ruined by the ref, it was ruined by an inexperienced defender making a silly decision. He will no doubt learn from it so we should have no complaints and move on.

Has it been shown in real time from the side rather than slomo? The reason I ask is because I'm sat right there, side on, & I wasn't expecting the Arsenal player to get the ball for a direct shot even before Boyata fouled him. In that split second it looked like he'd overhit it from where I sit & I was expecting a possible dangerous pass & tap in for someone else IF he reached it, not a direct goal.

Have they shown it close up in real time or is it a DeJong job?
