Time to believe.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I am always optimistic. I used to think Keegan could win us the league. When Sven had us in the top 4 I thought we were in with a shout. When Lesley went on his first spending spree, I thought 'why not'?

I'm well aware that this is a much different and more realistic prospect but I will always have nagging doubts. We could be 20 points clear and I'd still be doubting. I'm not a doom merchant, it's just that City have let me down so many times over the years that I'll struggle to believe until I see it.

I'm still standing by my pre-season post saying third was achieveable and anything better would be a bonus.

At this moment, we are sat joint top. Why the fuck would you think that the place BELOW was an acheivement?
What about looking at the place above?

Because I made the claim in preseason? Also, because of the RAG's games in hand, coupled with a worry that Chelsea's dip in form is just a blip. And because we're City.

TBF John, you can remember when City could dominate a league, whereas most of us are waiting for an inevitable collapse. I am definitely starting to believe though, and I think after the next couple of weeks things could look even better.

I said at the beginning of the year, go for third, but fourth is the goal. We have gone no lower than fourth for most of the season, now we are second but it only matters at the finish line. I still put the goal at fourth.

We're 2nd, and we went there temporarily because our fixtures are earlier in the weekend. This is a meaningless position, we could drop to 4th entirely out of our hands.

It's great to win and to string together a few good results but a win against the bottom side doesn't have me suddenly convinced that anything magical is happening. We are where we want to be (more or less) but we haven't even reached the halfway point of the season.

Last 5 prem matches is won 3 and drawn 2, all against opposition we should be able to beat handily enough. It's a good record but not the kind of platform that'd have you confident that's we're going to take the league by the scruff of the neck.

Of course we can win the ieague, I certainly believe that we're going to be there or thereabouts with a few games to play. No-one is running away with it so we have as good a chance as any of the normal contenders. As long as they keep shooting themselves in the foot and we keep improving, the why the hell not?

I can go with some of the reasons for doubt but my biggest frustratoion can be summed up in that last phrase of Dameerto's.
"...AND BECAUSE WE'RE CITY"

I have said it before and I'll say it again...THERE ARE REASONS FOR FAILURE. There were reasons why we haven't won a crock of shite for so many years...Whatever those reasons were, they do not exist now. Those days, those managers, those lack of resources and other shite that permeated our club have gone...hopefully for good. We have no reason to fail.

For those who say we haven't won for 30 odd years, why do use that as a cut off point? Is it because it its useful to confirm negativity. Why don't you use a cut off point 15years or so earlier. That would prove this City shite is nonsense. Our club is no different from any other. Given the right circumstances, we can and will succeed. What the fuck are city fans so frightened of?

You have been invited to the biggest party in our club's history, yet so many of you are happy to stand at the door dicussing how you MAY not enjoy the event.

I think that along with nearly all football followers we've been brainwashed into believing that the Sky Four dominating is the natural order of things, and when things look different everyone thinks that it's just a passing fancy.

Should we win the league then perhaps we can shatter the myths and free the football public from the shackles of the media propaganda.

I agree and disagree to a point. We can look at it in the manner you have presented, or they way we played the top 4 and Liverpool by the first week of November. They had the points on the board, and now some of them have to play each other, so naturally they will drop a few and we will pull it back

We are where we deserve to be after 17 games, Joint top with points in the bag, not games in hand. We are in contention. Doing no worse than anybody else and with a huge squad going into the 2nd half of the season. Course I believe.
