The scum are 2 points ahead of us with 2 games in hand and unbeaten. They are going to win the leaue with probably the worst team in the top 5. Its been gifted to them by us & chelsea throwing away points against shit teams.
There's still more than half the season to play; they won't stay unbeaten and we will learn from games like this and Stoke. They will throw away points too, and we will be able to close the gap; if we will close it completely, i don't know, but we won't be far from the top at the end of the season, we will in the fight till the end; of that I'm certain.
Douglas Higginbottom wrote:Sadly I don't think we have a chance of winning the league this season. We have to have a plan B to use when decent organised teams park the bus against us. I know we had masses of the ball and could have had penalties etc etc but Everton's gameplan allowed for City to have a lot of the ball and they would sit in numbers ro stop us going through the middle.
6 games we have failed to score already and each time against a team which knows how to defend.

Very true....even when they were down to 10 men they looked like they had 2 or 3 extra men on the park every time we went at them
Agree entirely that we need to adapt to this kind of opposition. My main issues are us trying to walk the ball through them, a lack of a combative targetman in the box and the poor quality of ball we are flinging into the box (as well as some fairly poor use of corners and free kicks this season in general).
We only need to look at the case study marked Arsenal to see how tried and tested (as ineffective) some of the above "strategies" are.
I have faith however that we have the resources (playing and coaching and financial) to resolve this and finish this season much stronger than we have started it...and that can't be something to be too down in the mouth about
