He's a very promising young player, probably expensive because Newcastle will want to leech us for as much as possible, but wouldn't be a bad signing if we can ignore the price.

Question is, where does he fit in to the 4-3-3 system? Not sure he does.

Look at Barcalona. Fast, mobile, movement, technique. This is the football we should aspire too. And in Silva and Tevez we have footballers who love to play that way. Carroll can't fit into that quick technical game

That's fair enough, he probably can't at this stage & probably never will unless he gets the opportunity to play for a quality 'passing' team. If we're purely going to aspire to be Barca though, we may as well write off the title for a few years as it certainly isn't going to happen overnight & of course Barca play in Spain, not the Prem & have Lionel Messi.

Imo if we want to be a Prem league winning team in the near future, we have to use every means possible & that means variety. Hopefully Dzeko will provide the extra option that Ade, RSC, Jo & Balotelli have, so far, mostly failed to do.

I think he's too raw to be a 1st choice for us at the mo but for the sake of argument, in our current formation;

.........Silva....................Toure..................Tevez..................

................Barry...........................DeJong............................

just for the sake of argument...haven't we all seen that RSC can do a lot of what Carroll did yesterday, albeit with a better passing game i believe? And Ade isn't a slouch either.

Maybe i'm alone in being bothered that neither has been given a run out before they've been so easily dismissed. Are they *worse* players than Dzeko or Carroll? i'm not convinced of that. Clearly, Mancini doesn't rate them so i'm pushing on a string, but what do you think?

Agree completely. RSC is always injured fair enough, but surely between he, Bellers and Ade Roberto should have found an option better than Jo.

Ade is actually a 1 in 2 striker, a fact often overlooked.

Far too late in the day for either,it seems Bob has made up his mind and they are gone next week.Ade,i couldn't give a monkeys about, never took to him,a shame because he is a player when he chooses.RSC is a different story for me,he's been unlucky through various factors, however,he is a great player and, given the chance and fit, could do a job for us,however as said,it's immaterial now anyway.

Ade imo could be every bit as effective as Drogba & tbf he is, when at his best, but he doesn't have the mentality to do it very often & imo gives the ball away too much & wastes too many chances. I also think he's a 1 in 5 or 6 finisher with his head rather than a one in 2/3 & that's assuming he even tries to win the ball in the 1st place or even goes into a position where anyone would try to cross for him. On the whole, as a traditional centre forward who leads the line, well he's just not one. I do think he would link up with Balotelli though.

RSC is a different matter imo as, skill wise, he's one of the best headers of a ball in the world but since we signed him, I've rarely seen him get off the ground or knock players around like he did when he took Dunne apart for Blackburn. That could be down to a lack of 'spring' in his knee since that operation; something which definitely happened to Richards for a year or so after his injury; he's only just got back his 'leap' this season.

As to why Bob hasn't played them more; if it's not down to injury I can only assume it's down to wanting to keep them safe for transferring out. If it's out of a belief that Jo is better; he's a bit deluded. We'll soon find out.

Carroll, for all his ability, is a hothead. He's the key to Newcastle and unstable (in the Joey Barton/Steven Gerrard sense). Newcastle can probably contain him as well as anyone because they do the hero worship thing so completely.

The simple fact is that it would be madness to put someone like that into a cauldron with Tevez and Balotelli (especially). We're trying to calm down Balotelli and we want to introduce someone who's broken a teammates jaw in training with a punch.

Mancini has used tall aerial players before, like Ibrahimovic, so we know there's a case for working him in. But I doubt that we're settled enough to take a young player like that. He's now as expensive as he's going to get anyway, there's no harm in waiting.

Sometimes he goes missing in games though, for example the West Brom game a couple of weeks ago (admittedly the whole Newcastle team was shite). I don't think he offers enough when playing balls into the space in front of the defence on the floor, he can look a bit of a cart horse.

However, if we needed to get goals, having him come off the bench and having the likes of Tevez, Silva and Barry feeding off his knock downs would be viable.

Maybe I am in a minority here, but I would much rather give him some more time before bringing him into a big club. He has not even finished one Premier League season yet, so we have little idea as to his consistency or his ability to adapt his game to clubs that will try to mark him out of a match. He is certainly not worth what it would cost to sign him yet. Would really much rather have Edin Dzeko.

Absolutely.

Give him few years and see if he does it consistently. There have been millions of one season wonders and I think Carroll is the same. Financially we don't NEED to take risks like that anymore. He'd cost near 20 million mark right now. IF he does it over few seasons he'll want to move and would cost somewhere between 25 to 35 million. There is absolutely no need to take the risk that he is a flop when we can let him stay where he is and see if he is the real deal.

IF Newcastle start pimping him around in summer you can guarantee that he has had season way beyond his natural skill level and they are looking to cash out. My prediction is that that is exactly what will happen.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It's easy to say a young player having an excellent season may fail, many do but if you look around the world, there are very very few Andy Carroll type players coming through & very very few centre halves capable of marking such a player. If anyone thinks Dzeko or even Drogba, do the same job; no they don't. They have more finesse but Carroll is something entirely different.

Vinny K has been a colossus & didn't go fucking near Carroll, Richard Dunne shat himself, Vidic got fucking skinned for a headerr 1st game of the season. Lescott is one of the few CB's to battle with him & even Lescott came 2nd. Lescott is a fucking monster.

Yeah fine, he goes to shit next season & everyone can say "see, I told you so" but if he gets better & signs for the rags, they'll have an unstoppable force with which to batter the fuck out of us for the next ten years; they know how to cross the ball.

Get 1st refusal on him, now.
