So we are the only ones teh press have this sort of access to?

That is just about the only reasonable/logical explanation for it.

Fair enough.

I don't remember where I read it, but there was an article on this very subject. It basically said that we are the only team who train in public so to speak, which is why the press pick up on every incident. It wasn't a particularly pro City article either, it said that because City built something (can't remember what) without permission from the council, they in turn wouldn't let City fence off the training pitches. Can anyone else cast any light on it?

City built the media centre without planning permission I think although it's all sorted now.

And they have built fences all round apart from one pitch. The problem is a walkway which gives access, albeit from behind a fence, where the photographers get a good enough view.It isn't a public walkway and I understand City are seeking to stop it being used but as yet is hasn't happened. I expect it to be done by the start of next season.

There is however a public footpath from which anyone can see one of the pitches which doesnt even have a fence around it so anyone can watch and take pictures. That pitch was used for training on Monday.Even the 2 undersoil heated pitches ,which do have fences around are accessible to cameras as the public footpath sort of runs alongside it for about 10 or so yards.

Not quite sure what will happen in the long run till we move to brand new facilities as is planned but that's a few years off.Even now on most training days there are some people inside watching the training and stood close to the pitch being used.Any one of those might be a source of information leaked to the press!

It's about time City banned the media from Carrington.

They very rarely use the privilege for anything positive about the club so fucl em.

But how can they ban freelance photographers from using a public footpath?

Hmmmm, good point.

If it is definately a public right of way then the only thing they can do is put up higher fences (whilst allowing MCF.net's intrepid reporter access to the inner sanctum).

As all managers will testify, things like this happen every day at most training grounds. Not one manager have i ever heard say that their lads have never had a fight, scrap or tussle with each other. It's a storm in a tiny teacup imo. It is becoming boring how it always ends up in the papers though as we all know the slimey fuckers want to portray City as a dis-unified team and club.

Its been said countless times mate...NO ONE outside the City salary sheet should be able to watch the training........it was obviously nothing major but none of this exposure does us any favours at all.

Hi Mr H, have you ever considered becoming City's very own, self appointed, 'Agent Provocateur' ??

When all the camera toting media morons come hanging round like a set of vultures, you could make an innocent sounding comment, in full earshot, to the effect of "Well, well, well, I wonder what Lionel Messi/Benzema/Kaka (or any other appropriate name) was doing meeting all the players and then training with them....did you see the cracking goal he scored earlier ?? ".

Such a story could make national headlines in the following day's papers until the journo hack responsible for the story, hopefully got chewed to pieces by his/her editor for, ostensibly making it all up.

On a cold winter's day this might provide a good degree of merriment for you, Mr H.

Trouble with that is most of the photographers are only after pictures and might have trouble stringing a sentence together. They come to take a picture of whoever is flavour of the day ( Bridge,Bellemy,Tevez,Mario etc etc) in the hope they will get a picture to which some hack can add a negative headline.

When they get to the training ground some don't know the one they are supposed to take a picure of! If I said Benzema was inside having talks most of them wouldnt have a clue who the hell he was.

Well then it becomes easier, just point to one of our young lads and tell them it's Lionel Messi.

Is that a hint to something you really saw ;o)

Maybe you should start leaking ridiculous lies to test the theory, like "Beckham is inside sorting out a loan deal" and "David Platt is a great coach"

only way to stop this, train at coms, nobody would be allowed in then, OR for the players to stop being nobs and just do the training

I seem to remember a story in the papers and on the net when Hull were in the Prem, Jimmy Bullard and another player had a falling out on the way to/from/during training at a point where they were in public, and had a bit of a fight near some members of the Women's Institute. So it happens to others, but as someone said access seems easier to get for our players than other teams. Can't wait for the new training ground, provided it comes with Doug-access.

All I have heard Sky say say so far is that there was a bust up between K and A but nothing followed it. It seems they dont know whether to make something of it or just leave it as one of those things. Maybe somebody is in the background trying to write a story about how the disharmony guarantees we won't be successful.

They can say what they want because we are still coming and it will happen.
