nothing wrong with him, i think de jong would be fucked if he had to attack/defend/ create on his own with no help.

If you look at the stats he was our best midfielder against arsenal, he only looked fucked after making lung bursting runs, any of the players would huff and puff and need a rest after some of the crazy runs he makes.

Wearing that fucking snood thing can't help. Once he's sweating all gloves, jumpers, scrafs and the like should be off. Was he wearing something from the camping shop last night, I can't recall?

You try running 100 yards with a 12 inch member to carry.

It's an energy sapper, believe me.

There's a reason women call it gold member.

Petrov was exactly the same as Yaya in this respect. Thank God they dont play high-level squash, or maybe that's the problem? Dennis Tueart used to, and it certainly hones up your recovery time.

I can only hark back distantly to my own squash training and reading about a former world champ called Geoff Hunt (they'll be a lot fitter now). His stamina training leading up to a major tournament was to do 32 400-metre runs at national standard time (Aussie), or 22 800-metre runs, each run with a 30-second recovery in between. This was to mimic the length and lung-needs of a rally at that level. And that only builds up the general stamina, not accounting for the constant back/forward drain of squash, which required other work.

These players should be jogging back at worst whilst recovering, it's embarrasing. Not sure Yaya or Petrov would make the second bend in the first run!

It fits in with the ideas for endurance-running training too, intervals. Although intervals are more for speed work than endurance (hill intervals are even more effective). You can't beat long slow mileage for pure endurance. (probably would need to be toned down a bit for footballers though, with a mix of endurance and speed work for those bursts of energy during a match combined with enough staying power to see the game out)

Basically, whatever is wrong it's embarassing to see Yaya who has won everything under the sun blowing out of his ass looking like a pub team player.

Sort it out.

There's a part of me that finds it piss funny, watching a pro footaller bent double, struggling to catch his breath, but it isn't acceptable. With the Role Bobby is asking him to play he needs to be a lot fitter.

He'd have got away with it at Barca because of where he played and the amount of posession they had but in his role in our side he can't be taking five minutes to recover from every forward surge.

Needs sorting asap, it's not good enough and is a tad embarrassing. The least these players owe the fans and the club, with the money they're on, is to be in tip top condition.

At Barca, they have the ball all the time, the opposition get shagged out chasing them around. The famed 'workrate' Barca show to close down & win back the ball when they lose it, only involves a few seconds of running, so isn't actually very hard work at all, then they're back to playing at their own pace (like Arsenal v City when we constantly passed the ball back to them within 2 seconds of winning it & ended up with no 'legs' in the midfield).

The Premier League is also much harder work than playing in Spain. Having to run about so much is a new experience for Yaya. When we lose the ball, he doesn't close quickly enough to be a holding player & he struggles to play more than one game per week as an attacking player. He'll have to get fitter for next season or he'll lose his place in the 1st 11. He's already under threat from Dzeko who can play behind Tevez if needed.

I think it will more easily be the opposite, Dzeko playing up front and Carlos in the hole behind him.

That's the obvious choice but if Bob wants a big bloke playing a bit behind the striker, Dzeko can play there no problem.

Quinn - Rosler fashion? Quite possible. Although I still think it'll be Tevez playing behind Dzeko or even wide right.

Yaya is sure not at the fitness level that we would like, but his contribution is immense. When he picks up the ball inside our half and proceeds to run at them, he leaves opposition players in his wake , lost . How can he improve ? Two ways : run those laps till it hurts and pace himself for the demands of 90 minutes in premier league. He's a winner and he will get even better.

He has been really flustrating, but has got all the talent to be one of the best midfield players we have ever seen.

Playing for Barca all he had to do was mop up after Xvai and Inestia and give them the ball.

Playing for us he has been asked to go more forward and some of his runs have been fantastic, he is developing this aspect of his game.

He could be the best midfield player in the prem next season without a doubt.
