Great post Doug, as always. I suppose there may have been a couple of scouts checking AJ's form. I would have thought he'd need another three games minimum before he could be considered for a place on the bench at City. I still think he's more likely to go out on loan. The key thing is that he goes somewhere that's going to give him serious game time. Then with a decent pre season in July maybe, just maybe he could be fighting seriously for a place in the first 11. A heck of a lot of water under the bridge first, though. As we all know players are vulnerable to niggly little injuries when they come back from a long lay off.

One final point did he look right down to his fighting weight?

McDermott looked really good at times, but my God I'd be frustrated watching him regularly. He split his time on the pitch between skinning people for fun and playing some incisive short through balls, looking like the best player on show, and staring at this own boots, facing away from our attacks in an offside position and looking like he smokes forty marloboro a day with his hands on his knees.

Guidetti is a bloody good player, just has a lack of pace when at full tilt that makes you think he might not cut it at top level. Bit like Ded's judgement at times, in terms of how far he will go, but you can coach that out of a player, unlike not being fast.

MJ looked like what he is - a very good player easing himself back into things. Only 45 mins but injury free by the looks of it, good good good.

Cannot believe what the doc told us about Mario's fitness/injury!

Absolutely nowt. So he fully deserved it when Kiddo snook up on him and flicked his earlobe. Good lad.

Douglas Higginbottom wrote:Guidetti was interesting. I think the general feeling was that he had a poor game but I think that's being a bit cruel. His running was good but somehow the final pass or shot he just seemed to get wrong. But more of the same in the 2nd half and he scored 2 good strikers goals with a tap in from a great Vidal cross and a poach from close in after a scramble.I have to say I am Guidetti fan. I like his effort and often his touch but he justs needs to be better with the final thing.I personally think if he had played instead of Jo whenever he has played he would have had at least a couple of goals and probably more plus an assist or two.

I certainly wouldnt say he had a poor game, he wasnt always getting the rub of the green but he scored two fine goals and put in a lot of work.

I am amazed that he isnt back up to our regulars now.

Drop JO.

Listen to this man, please.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Johnson is going to need at least a run of 8-10 games before he's considered for first team matters, he's already had one, he's on his way.

As for Guidetti, i would include him in the squad for Wolves, Leicester, Villa and hopefully Notts County and give him enough incentive to sign a new contract before loaning him to another chamionship club til the end of the season.

Just one of the reasons why he will keep his job longer than Mark Whittaker.....
