Tbh he's the kind of ref who will deliberately shit on us if we give him stick.

I think he'll try and shit on us wether we give him stick or not mate. I suppose it depends which way the betting's going though ;-)

That's my gut feeling too

Anyone remember the game v Liverpool at Maine Rd, when we were giving George (Scouselicker) Courtney shit for corruptly failing to send off one of their lot for a deliberate, obvious, last man, prof foul & he retaliated by giving them their 2nd terrible penalty for a Breardsley dive, which he 'saw' from being positioned about 50 yards away? Then he stood, hands on hips, looking at the crowd as they shouted at him?

2 Liverpool fans sat behind me were embarrassed, one said "I don't fucking believe this".

Clattenburg is exactly the same kind of ref imo.

Cannot beleive they're letting him Ref so soon! He's the kind of scum ref who will screw us over anyway - and allways does, he probably believes this gets him further into the bossom of Taggert!

Hope we do these first time round, we dont need the replay and we need to get a head of steam up now. Hopeing to see MJ too if the other thread bears fruit

Hart, Richards, Kolo, Boateng, Zabaleta, Vieira, Barry, Yaya, Kolarov, Silva, Balotelli. From OS.

Seems like we are relying on clean sheet and a moment of magic from Balo or Silva then.

Should be strong enough of a team, but I hope Tevez is on the bench if it goes pear-shaped ...

With Vieira and Barry playing we can expect that Yaya will play further forward along with Silva. Richards and Kolarov are expected to provide the width with Zabaleta at right back. No sense in criticising Mancini for playing three defensive midfielders because he's not. The key thing with this formation is that Balotelli gets lots of support from midfield. Silva needs to link with him and hopefully Yaya make runs past him while Kolarov and Richards fire crosses in. In theory it could be quite an attacking formation. In theory.

I assume that Mancini feels that Tevez is a bit jaded and doesn't want him playing 90 minutes before the Wigan match. He's there and will clearly be used if we need a goal after 60 minutes or so.

Some good points but surely Kolarov is in midfield?

Hart

Richards - Kolo - Boateng - Zaba

Yaya - Vieira - Barry - Kolo

Silva

Mad hatter

I am really looking forward to seeing Silva work with Balo, think they have playstyles that suit each other well.

Hart

Zabaleta - Vieira - Barry
Silva - Yaya
Balotelli.

Doesn't look too bad, should be good enough to beat Villa. of course the formation can be very different from that so I'm looking forward to seeing how we line up
