i disagree.

I read it in the context like you would ' that northern monkey' or 'what the fuck are you doing you chimp'. Suppose it depends on who you are and your own inner monologue

haha, yeah - inner monologue and a race "card".

if you think it's ok for city fans on this board to call black players "monkeys" then fair enough. as i said earlier - i do hope it's lost in translation.
"Whatever it is that we "bought" - we didn't put it up for sale..."

It was a very unfortunate choice of words at best, but based on the evidence of last season in Italy it seems to be more socially acceptable there than here. That's not to excuse it, just putting it in context.
Just to clarify, I would and have challenged this sort of thing on our own terraces and by no means condone it.

Going to try to lighten the mood, and then get back on topic.
I was at a Rochdale game a few seasons back, playoff semi final against Darlington if I recall correctly, and heard something which initially was met with total disgust. The quote in question was "F*** off back to the chocolate factory Joachim!"
After two or three seconds the guy realised how many people were staring at him and shock registered on his own face as he protested "No, no, he's built like an Umpa Lumpa!"

Silver linings for me are definitely the return of Milner and AJ, the form of the 3 in defence and the superb attitude shown by the rest of the players following the red card. They will hopefully sleep well, not be too disappointed after a decent performance and will be looking foward to carry the momentum through to Chelsea before crashing and regrouping.

The players played an expansive game (until their energy ran out). No over indulgence in square and negative passing, high octane etc.

Balotelli is like a millstone around Mancini's neck - I will see that as a silver lining too.

I don't have to fork out $1500 to fly back to Dublin for four days.

For me there is now still enough time to cancel my lottery ticket application and not lose money on final tickets like i did in Turkey.

I am hoping that the players will now be able to rest up and focus on Wembley and hopefully keep the dream alive. I am becoming slightly pessimistic now though because all City do is build our hopes up and shoot ourselves in the foot. It will be a monumental cock up if we finish out of the top 4 and dont make it to a final.

or "izzzz normalllll"

i agree that the games we won't have to play SHOULD be crucial to our domestic success...that's stating the obvious, but like i said before the match i think Mancini will be quietly satisfied that he doesn't have to play those matches. Clearly, he played this match to win tho i felt. Bit of playing both sides from him in some ways i think, but politically it was the right thing for him to do.

cheers

I must be honest Balo's race wasn't what I thought of when I read it.
Just thought he meant it as in 'fucking weapon'.
It doesn't look a wise choice of words though

I know it's probably unfair(maybe it isn't) to put the weight of an entire country on Renato, but with what he said and where he is from, it's the first thing I thought.

I doubt Renato meant that comment in the way people are taking it. He doesn't seem like that sort of person to me.

Wanted Balotelli shipped off to Billabong Rovers, somewhere in the Australian outback, for the remainder of his contract, last night.
This morning I'm hoping the silver lining is the message has reached him loud and clear, or will at Carrington today, that it's about my beloved City, not Mario Balotelli and he will grow up and show everyone the fabulous talent he has been hiding under his petulence.
City are coming to get you!
