What the reporters say has a big influence on decisions like POTY.I know this award is the writers themselves but as been said by most people here, the decision to make bale the players players imo has been massively influenced by the garbage reporters came out with after that run of games where Bale was excellent ( was allowed to be excellent)There was so much hype at the time and so much that the influence from then carried him to PotY a month or more later.

All Spurs fans know Modric is the better of the two players at Spurs and that's without thinking of all sorts of other players at other clubs who should have been in front of Bale.

Parker for me is a similar case.WHU are an average to poor side and there have been matches where he has stood out and helped them get a point or more by his excellent efforts.Has he done enough consistently though? I don't see all the matches so all I have is a gut feel from the games I have seen and highlights and I would say no.Close maybe but not close enough as for him to have been that good he should perhaps have forced the odd extra point from games singlehandedly but also I feel he should have been a greater influence on some around him to aspire to better things.

Adam I personally wouldnt have in the top 6 ( maybe more). Some great quality in the desert that is Blackpool but he is one of those players who regularly looks for ther grandstand pass. When it comes off he gets OTT plaudits but when it doesn't he still gets plaudits for a great attaempt. What about when he gives the ball away stupidly in the middle of the park ( or even in the penalty area) which he has done constantly and he is slower than Barry isn't he?

Modric,Vidic,Kompany,Tevez,Nani,Nasri ( maybe a couple have gone off a little of late) and that's without thinking too hard.

just for the record, i didnt receive my morning blowjob either, and i would say that it fucking ISN'T Bale. I don't know anything more than that, but just thought you'd all want to know both of those FACTS.

cheers

I think it should be noted that one stand out player is not sufficient for a Football team to compete well in the Premier League.

Personally, I think it's great that someone outside the top 4 has won this!

yeah but then it should be given at the end of Decenber ;) Anyway you look at it, awarding it at mid April doesn't seem logical to me....

I've written an article: http://righthererightnow21.blogspot.com ... .html#more
discussing this very topic. Personally i dont believe Parker was the best player in the league this season and i dont think he's deserving of this award either. But take a read of the article and let me know what you think

Cheers

MR VINCENT KOMPANY - Developed from the start of last season when everyone was saying he would be pushed out given the new signings into THE best central defender in the premiership but it isnt fashionable to give it to defenders

That's not a bad read mate and made much easier with my views on the subject. One thing I'd add is how impressive Scott Parker was against the Rags when 2-0 up; I wonder who gave that team talk?

I dont think anyone is doubting what a good season Parker has had but.... can anyone honestly say he has been the best player consistently this season across the course of the full season? I dont think anyone can say that. Obviously watching City regularly I could point out players like Nigel de Jong, Vincent Kompany, Carlos Tevez and David Silva who for me have all had great seasons consistantly performing at a very high standard not only is this noted by their performances but also by the effect it has when they have been missing through injury, suspension etc, no doubt most football fans could put a case forward for at least two players from their respective teams. For me Scott Parker has not been a stand out player in the premiership this season, neither has Gareth Bale he has quite simply has a couple of excellent games in high profile matches, these awards are about consistancy as well as standard across a full season

Cheers. haha too right. It's beginning to annoy me how much the press are all sucking up to Parker at the moment, hes really flavour of the month and im not too sure why. I dont dislike him, i think hes a good player, but hes just not the great player hes being made out to be.
