More please Edin!

I think people are onto something about Tevez, he hoovers up so much of the pitch that its possible the other striker ends up not being as arsed, it would be hard to not start thinking -oh dont worry Carlos will win the ball back-. It was obvious Tevez use to cramp Irelands area (not blaming him for Irelands loss of form)

Im really glad Chelsea now think they have something to play for and their game against Spurs should be a cracker, another season decider maybe!?

Wow if that was bumbling, fumbling from Dzeko I dread to think what Mario's performance should be called!

No I did think Dzeko overall didn't look on top form, his touch and passing still lacks the sharpness that will come next season, and he needs to be stronger against Premier League defenders, he certainly has the size advantage.

Delighted for him though you could see how much it meant.

The goal last night came from just the player we would all have hand-picked to score it.

Balotelli's complete linacy means Dzeko remains a valid option to dstart the Cup final, and indeed be a long term option for us up top if he can step up.

My river wasn't ideal Doug but scoring the goal was one of the few things he did right. Let's remember, I am a massive Dzeko fan and am chuffed we got him. But his allround game wasn't great. Let's not sugar coat an average performance.

It was a great finish. That is all.

Last night's chance is the type that Stoke will gift us as they tire and keep everyone behind the ball. Dzeko should come on as a sub for me.

Not saying he had a great game at all but I just watched his time on the pitch again and apart from the goal he held the ball up quite well and competed.Compared to that other guy who did virtually nothing.

If we lose that three defensive midfielders system and replace Barry with more attacking player, he will score tons next season.

Are we playing a three defensive midfielder system? I know that is what Yaya is more famous for, but I am not sure if that is how he is being played.

Their is absolutely no need to play Barry, as NQDP infers, he just takes the place of an attacking player. Everyone can see it except Mancini, we don't need him in games like this. Even Milner or Swp would have been better options.

Would Dzeko have scored that goal had Tevez been on the field? Or does the presence of Tevez on the field diminish the potential threat of other forwards?

Following the rumours, if he goes, will we miss Tevez as much now as we would have done a few months ago?

sorry if it has already been said but couldn't be boz'd to read the whole thread. Personally I haven't bought into the hype that Tevez will leave, I rekon it is entirely possible he never was serious in the threat to quit. Anyways the point john68 makes is a critical one and something i have mumbled a few times on here.. that while an amazing player and a massive asset to have, Tevez distorts the team as he takes over the majority of the pitch. It is a really tricky one, but whatever the future, stay or go, it has always been the case that the team had to find a way not to rely on him. In fact it is more than that as it is both not relying on him so when he is injured we can be as good a threat and also learning how to play when he is dominating everything, ie play with him as a unit and not just as a support act.
So to answer john's point it is very possible that Edin would not have had that space or time or even opportunity had Carlito been on the pitch.

The trouble is it is not easy to deal with imo as Tevez is obviously at his best when allowed to do wtf he wants to. See the difference between what the rags got out of him and what City have.
If it was me having to deal with it i would demand that he racks up as many assists as he gets goals. This might sound a bit bizzare but i would make it definitive; as in, If you score more goals than twice the assists you get by the end of the season I will sack you!
Harsh but i rekon it would work and it puts the onus on Tevez to solve the problem himself.
He has got 6 assists and 19 goals. if he could just try and crank up the assists.. to 10 or 11 the result would be that others would be getting into the game a bit more with Tevez helping rather than taking it all on himself or hogging all the space. It is obviously a fine line but imo the team would be better for it and more of a unit in attack and more able to cope without Tevez when he is unavailable.

Not a fantastic game from him v Everton, but it was very noticeable that he was involved in some nice link up play, pulling of defenders, and in the first half he was in the right place for several tap ins, had the cross/shot have been just inches different.

He is getting in the right places and making the right moves.

Im more convinced we have signed a very good player, and next season we will see his full potential.

A winner in the cup final would settle him down nicely!

Just not seeing enough sorry. For 26 million I really expected a real top class player. Maybe next season he'll show it. He needs to.

Both Kompany and De Jong were pretty average (Kompany maybe even alittle bad?) in their first season and look at them now. Some players hit the groud running while others need a season to adjust to the PL. Even Silva almost never played the first 3-4 months.

I won't judge Kolarov or Dzeko untill atleast christmas next season:-)
