Agree with alot of the comments but think this thread should have been postponed for a few weeks.

It has the potential to be a very good season but we haven't achieved anything yet. Lets start patting ourselves on the back when we've done it - at the moment we are in good position in the league and in a cup final and i'm very pleased but let's leave the champagne in the garage for a few weeks hey
MANCINI Record at City

2009-10 League..................Pld 21 - W 11 - D 5 - L 5 - GF 40 - GA 18 - Pts 38...Finished 5th
2010-11 League..................Pld 38 - W 21 - D 8 - L 9 - GF 60 - GA 33 - Pts 71...Finished 3rd..FA Cup Winners
2011-12 League..................Pld 38 - W 28 - D 5 - L 5 - GF 93 - GA 29 - Pts 89...Finished 1st..League Champions
2012-13 League..................Pld 36 - W 22 - D 9 - L 5 - GF 62 - GA 31 - Pts 75...Finished 2nd

Domestic Cups record.........Pld 30 - W 18 - D 4 - L 8 - GF 63 - GA 36
European Cups record.........Pld 28 - W 13 - D 7 - L 8 - GF 43 - GA 29

Overall record at City......Pld 191 - W 113 - D 38 - L 40 - GF 361 - GA 176

a quick couple losses on the trot and everyone will be suicidal. For good reason...we'll land harshly but justifiably in 5th barely necking out Scouse and lose 2-1 to Stoke in the FA Cup final.

Fucking bastard threads like this will be to blame.

Hardly a success with all that's left to play for. And John in terms of top 10 best seasons ever -- it's just a smidge better than last season so far, and i think we'd say that was the minimum criteria in terms of season's rankings over time, don't you?

Right where we need to be, now let's finish the job.

But on the flip side, could we have won the league this season? Yes. I think we could have.

We so could've won the league.....quite frustrating to think of the games we could and should have won this season but all in all it's been an enjoyable ride thus far. Let's just hope it doesn't go all PT

It's been a succesful season since November, i have been trying to tell you all that, if you all just calmed down and enjoyed the ride you wouldn't of had any need to get all angry and worked up.

probably not the thread to poke your head into saying "i told you so" with so much more to play for tbh. Just keep a low profile and hope all your licking comes good. Otherwise, you'll end up with a gelato and jizz facial that might be hard to clean off.

I think we all genuinely hope that you can have the opportunity to remain smug. That said, 4 of the five fixtures genuinely give me the heebie jeebies:

Everton away
Spurs anywhere
Stoke home
Bolton away

We could quite easily lose any (or several) of those....and have proven ourselves capable of doing so in the past

If results go as expected this weekend then it's all over as far as i am concerned, we then start to focus on catching Arsenal. Spurs have to go to Stamford Bridge and we have West Ham at home, it should be a spurs loss and a city win which would then leave us 7 points ahead of Spurs with 4 games to go, to catch us we would have to lose 3 of our last 4 games and they would have to win a minimum of 3 of their games which include Liverpool and Us away.

This weekend is so vital.

one match at a time dickcheese, can we just focus on one match at a time?

and wrt Spurs being in better "losing points form" than we are...that can change in a heartbeat. I can't believe so many of us sound so fucking arrogant right now. I'm farting like Patrick's dog. It's not okay.

Regardless of targets and success/failure, he should stay unless there is someone perceived to be able to do a better job who is available and willing to come. Same goes for all the players. We'd replace Johnson with Messi in a heartbeat if it was an option, so there's no reason not to do the same with Mancini, if there's someone you think would do better. Obviously you'd need to decide if you're trying to win something immediately or build for the long term, as the 'better' person could be very different under those criteria. There's also no point in doing a Blackburn and sacking a manager just for the hell of it and then realising there's no one better interested in the job.

Carl,
There are 2 possibilities at Wembley, we win, we lose. That's it, no draws or shared trophies. I understand fully that either is a possibility but based on the evidence at hand, we are the favourites to win, we have better players and a better playing record than Stoke. Stoke will also be missing 3 crucially important players. it is therefore reasonable to consider that City could or should be victorious. I'm pretty comfortable with that....so should you be.
Why are you so bent on looking for the nightmare scenario? When projecting City's chances, why do you always look at only the negative possibilities? Why do you never comment about any of the positive possibiliies that may happen to City?

@ Doomie,

Life, as are most things in it, is a journey where the ultimate destination is death. Do you wait until the point of death until you judge whether you have enjoyed or are satisfied with your life? Or do sometimes take a little time out during that life to assess your satisfaction or enjoyment?
As with life, so with football. It is quite in order to look at the point we have reached, take a little time out and assess its progress. It would be rather silly not to enjoy our life as it happens...and so with football. Why should we need to wait until the season has died before saying "That was good?" Is is not better to look at the moment and say "This is good?" Enjoying the journey is important. Fearing the future and looking for carl's nightmare scenarios is friuitless.

This season so far is the 8th best ever in our history. Seeking to diminish your perception of it by saying it is only slightly better than last season, is ridiculous. Last season was the 9th best ever in our history and as such, was not as bad a season as many would have us think.

....and Carl, I'm not jumping up and down with delight mate. I am merely pointing out that as it stands, we are doing ok and there is no real reason why we should be looking for nightmare scenarios or a collapse of form or any other fuclin tragedy that might beset us. It is quite reasonable to suppose that the season will continue in a similar vein and we shall probably lift the Cup, finish well clear of Spurs and hopefully challenge Arsenal for 3rd.

Zen68,

That's all well and good when talking about life, but this is in fact about just one football season, and it remains health beneficial to wait until the end and decide on it's quality.

Yes, it's truly fuclin wonderful that with only a handful of games to go, we still have two glorious prizes within our grasp. But with the inconsistency that we have shown this season, it is impossible to feel confident about either. If that fat lady doesn't sing blue moon this year, the disaster will seem all the more desperate because we got so close.

I am supremely confident that we will finish 4th, absolutely no doubt. I think we'll be seven clear by 6pm Sunday and it's as good as in the bag.

For those that are genuinely concerned, here is a link that can provide you with an insurance policy:

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/eng ... p-4-finish

You can have 10/1 on Betfair that we won't finish top four. Scant consolation but an indicator of how close we are. I see us needing a draw at home to Stoke to clinch it.
