Right. It's still good competition though.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Falcao is an Inzaghi type player. World class striker, but i don't know if he is Premiership material.

It's fair comment on whether he's PL material, it's impossible to know for sure until you see a player actually playing there but he does have great strength in the penalty area & the ability to get in the spaces around/ between defenders, hold them off & get in a top notch finish. His aerial ability is disproportionate to his size & to me, he looks even better than Cahill in that department. Of course someone would have to actually cross the ball to him, so for that reason he may not suit us.

Do you see Inzaghi playing in the Premier? In a duel with Samba or Taylor? There are players than can be world class, can be huge in Spain, Italy, but also i think will be poor in England. Falcao is one of them, Deco was in the past, Ballack or even Kaka if he will come here.

I can't believe how snobby and dismissive some people have become of the talents of players from other leagues. Unless someone has ripped it up in the Prem or La Liga then they're 'not good enough for where we want to go' or 'not good enough for the Prem'. I even heard someone completely dismiss Serie A players the other day. It's madness.

I remember many peiople raising concerns over Davis Silva's ability to 'cut it in the Prem' last summer.

well i have never considered inzaghi to be world class at any point. but early in his career, yes i think inzaghi would have scored loads of goals.

deco was never world class either, good player but never in the bracket of messi, ronaldo etc.

I understand what he means. Silva cuts it because he has balls. Robinho has just as much talent but no balls & has had to leave. Falcao has the physique of a PL striker though but it's still no guarantee. Dzeko hasn't shown us he can do it yet, although I think he can. No proof yet though; he's been miles off it.

Exactly, it's down to the attributes of the individual which is why dismissing someone's talents because of they league they find themselves playing in is daft.

Mike, Inzaghi was the world's leader in the european goals this season before he was injured and the Raul became number one. For me, Inzaghi was the best forward i've seen all my life, because he was the type that would do nothing for 91 minutes and then scored with his knee or something the winning goal. It wasen't important how awfull he was playing, he could have scored when you least expected. Remember the Scouser final in 2007, he scored with his shoulder. He was world class.

Don't get me wrong, Falcao for me is incredible, i am a fan, the lad is smart, has a master diploma in journalism, speaks four languages and is a scoring machine. But i am afraid after 3-4 games he will gen an "Eduardo" or "Ramsey" and be out. he doesn't look to have the composure needed for Premiership.

eh! just because i said imo he wasnt world class doesnt mean i dont think he was an excellent striker. of course he was, his goal record is outstanding. nor do i think scoring with a knee or shoulder is a measure of world classness (made up word)

i think that was his "mark". After 20 years, people will remember Pippo for offside and shoulder goals. lol

Yes but some players can be world beaters in most leagues but will struggle to hit the same levels in the Prem. As would be the case with many top teams around Europe imo; the PL would grind them down.

That's the thing though. It's anybody's guess how players will react to physical nature of game in England. Silva took some kickings early on, got up, realised he wasn't going to get freekicks and started dancing around the tackles. Some other players will just end up pitying themselves and moaning about the other players and fuck off in year or two.

That's why I would like us to proper talk with players before we sing them. And not just about their fucking boot deal and what they like to eat but how they see the game. When you got the talent to do it (like Silva AND Robinho), the rest is between your ears. Have to say though that there has always been air of humility and loyalty in Silva. The way he conducted himself in Valencia when really big boys came calling summer after summer was nothing short of exceptional.

I think they do try to cover all these angles, especially nowardays moreso than when we signed the Elano, Bianchi, Jo, Robinho type players but we didn't have the status to pick & choose quite so much then. It's such a hard one to call though. Silva is obviously a top quality bloke but it could have been his downfall on the pitch if he hadn't adapted. Dzeko comes accross as a great bloke, really likeable, but in his case, it would probably be better if he was a total, single minded, cunt. At the moment he's probably too nice on the pitch, as Silva was initially & needs a couple of Joe Jordan injections or to be more like Tevez, then you get the problems it brings off the pitch!

Funny old game.

He'd score shit loads in United's team undoubtedly...seeing as they can actually cross a ball.

Look at Chicarito - he thrives on good service. How many would he have scored playing for us? Hmmm.....
