No contest, definitely the league. It proves your Champions of England. The Champions Lge is terrific but you can't credibly say you're the best team in Europe if it's been more than 5-10yrs since u won the lge but then won Champions Lge. An example was L'pool in 05, great cup run but Everton were better than them that season.
MANCINI Record at City

2011-12 League..................Pld 38 - W 28 - D 5 - L 5 - GF 93 - GA 29 - Pts 89...Finished 1st..League Champions
2012-13 League..................Pld 36 - W 22 - D 9 - L 5 - GF 62 - GA 31 - Pts 75...Finished 2nd

Domestic Cups record.........Pld 30 - W 18 - D 4 - L 8 - GF 63 - GA 36
European Cups record.........Pld 28 - W 13 - D 7 - L 8 - GF 43 - GA 29

This is really tough for me, partly because I'm so thrilled at the thought of competing for both these trophies on a year in year out basis.

CL is more prone to going on a run or getting a good draw and I wouldn't have any real interest in us doing that, not anymore. I want to have earned it, if and when it comes.

There are also 2 frames of reference closer to home so we can see examples in both directions. Liverpool won the CL but haven't had a recent league win. It was a magical moment and I'd love to experience that, the thrill would be amazing. It would also signal our arrival more than a league win. The other example is Chelsea, Mourinho was winning leagues for fun, but wasn't delivering the big prize, they still haven't gotten there.

Thinking long and hard, I'd have to say that I think I'd take the Chelsea frustration over the Liverpool one, even though it wouldn't really matter than much for Liverpool's current predicament if they'd won a league 5 or 10 years ago. But I only say that because Chelsea are always close to the CL and should do it eventually. But really I don't know.

For Mancini's sake, I'd like to see him winning the CL. It would really be the making of him and I think we need that. I think the players would also want the CL.

tbh i don't like the question..i'd like City to win both, but i would like us to win the Prem first and for the time being don't give a fucl about the CL, i dont mind much if we dont even get out of the group stage. Concentrate 100% on the title. If we managed to get through to the latter stages of the CL somehow and then fucled up the title challenge by concentrating too much on the CL i would be furious to the point of ballistic. If and when we win the title then yes have a full on tilt at the CL.

Both.

But as I can just remember the last title win, when I was 7, it would be nice to do that. Especially as i dont really give a monkey's wotsit about Europe.

If I had to choose I would pick the CL on the basis that City has been domestic champions on occasion, but never the champions of Europe. It would be uncharted waters in the club's history.

Then imagine seven months later City lifting the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi with a beaming Sheikh Mansour looking on.

To win the League, you have to be better than the rags, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
To win the CL, you have to be better than the rags, Chelsea, Arsenal, Inter, Bayern, Real, and Milan.

Winning the league signals our arrival at the top table.
Winning the CL means we have eaten the otherS sat round it.

I want to won the CL as proper champions, not as fourth or third placed in the domestic league. So, next year the leagues, and in two years the league and the CL.

Well, judging by his overall cup record...apart from FAC - no fuckin way.

But, everyone grows. hope his development as a tactician follows citys development.

I don't really understand. If I counted right, he has won 7 cup titles (two of those Italian Super Cups though) with four different clubs in his career. So how did you come to that conclusion "judging by his overall cup record"? He has reached quarterfinals of Champion's League in the past as well.

Is it possible that you have no idea what you are talking about?

Winning the league....I still find myself laughing at the mere thought of ridiculous it is that this is now actually a realistic aspiration!!

Honestly the CL may be in pure achievement terms in the context of international recognition be the "bigger prize" but half of the foreigners who wank themselves about it only do so as they live in countries where it was their first exposure to decent high quality football due to the TV coverage. Invariably they live somewhere with a poxy domestic leagues so hook onto a CL team and consider themselves "fans" of that team.

For me even being in the CL for now is quite exciting....seeing City go out with the old music on will be class but I am just falling victim myself to the inherent media/UEFA hyping of the competition.

All the bollocks about CL being "massive and all important" is a recent thing and is very much TV/UEFA/G10-14-whatever driven. When I was a kid it was just another knockout competition....albeit a pretty big one.

If we win the league.....or even win it more than once I have to say I will die a happy man one day. It feels amazing just sitting here as FA Cup Winners but to claim the top prize in English football will be huge.

He CANNOT compete tactically against the likes of Mourinho, Baconface, Pep.

Same Ferguson who he kicked out of FA Cup? Same Mourinho who took time to praise Mancini for the team he had built when he took over for him (not exactly something Mourinho is prone to do)?

Guardiola is funny one. He has astonishing record but I will say he is one of the greats ONLY when he one day takes the challenge and gets out of his comfort zone to build a team of his own and be succesfull with it. Something Mourinho, Taggart and Mancini have done. All three more than once as well.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I just dont think Bob is bold enough.

dont want to spend words on italian cup.

Europa league, we all saw the way we played some games.

FAC - well, we were a bit lucky before the semi, and in the first 20 minutes of the semi. As soon as we got bold and brave and went for it, we managed to beat the rags, who werent really that interested in FAC, judging by their starting 11.

Dont get me wrong, I think Mancini is the right manager for us. And most of us agree he needs to be a bit braver.

I'm old skool and proud of it. We need to be champions of our own league first before doing it in Europe so the CL title will have to wait until 12/13 season for me.

League is the more worthy as it shows that you have consistently been the best team in the league whereas you can fluke a champions league with a few lucky draws against shitters. id love either though as everyone has said. Preference - league.
