I thought you would have learnt to stop coming out with stupid comments after the "what does yaya toure actually do?" thread.

One of the greatest players to ever play for the rags, england and in the premier league. He was a spanish player with an english mentality.

It speaks volumes that the likes of Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta, Seedorf, Kaka ect all hail him as one of the best. Zidane said ""Scholes is undoubtedly the best midfielder of his generation." Henry said "I can't understand why Scholes has never won the player of the year award. He should have won it long ago. Maybe it's because he doesn't seek the limelight like some of the other 'stars'."

When the final whistle went on Saturday FIVE Barca players rushed to Scholes to get his shirt, Iniesta won.

The fact that he has retired from the game has made me very happy, it weakens them lot so much, this is great news. They need to seriously invest in the summer as they won't defend their title with a midfield of Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson and Gibson :D

Sorry mate, but as far as international football was concerned he is certainly NOT one of the best to have played for England. He was a good player but only showed very little for the national side every now and again. For someone who earned well over 50 caps, he did not do for england what he did do for the rags. Same can also be said of Lampard and Gerrard in tyhe club v country situation.

Good point ... he was actually pretty crap for England that goal in the 1998 WC apart ... maybe it was because he was Spanish!

It's all about opinions sunshine. Yaya demonstrated exactly what he does, I have acknowledged that, maybe we could move on now?

As for Scholes being over-rated, the quotes from the great players above prove, in my opinion, that he is over-rated.

I didn't say he was shit or even that he wasn't very good, I said he was over-rated, do you understand the difference?

To say he is one of the greatest players to ever play for England is just fucking stupid... in my opinion.

I'm glad the little ginger fucktard is knocking it on the head as he was a fanstastic player for the rags and hurt us on many an occasion.

But he still didnt make it into the top ten goals though, eoufffffffff.

he can fuck off - the arrogant little lump of shit

I am with KK on 2 points:

1/ it is all about opinions - we are all entitled to our own

2/ totally over-rated IMO - had a few good years - but then so have zillions of players

Also hated the way he dropped out of England call ups - of course that was orchestrated along with other scum players

Hated more the way the England set up pandered to the scum cadre - never mind the ginger cunt - how the fuck did the likes of the neville sisters, wes brown etc get so many caps

I can't think of another profession where you'd get away with not learning one of the basic necessities, like tackling, even after doing that profession for over 15 years.

Have to 2nd this, I honestly never "got" Scholes as a player. Sure he could play a neat pass and had decent vision, but I really don't understand what it was he did that made him so amazing. I suppose he played in a style that is not normal for an English player, and basically because he was different there was the resultant wank-fest.

Not doubting he was a good player, just don't think all the plaudits "best this, best that etc" are right

I know that I was more relieved if he was on the bench than on the pitch when we played against them. He was a top player and not a complete dickhead like the majority of twats that play for them.

never said generation, maybe he is no gazza, messi, but what he is, is a fantastic midfielder, yeah tackling was not his strongest part of the game, but scholes had everything else, he could pass short or long, shoot from all ranges,

dont get me wrong this is not some wank fest of a utd player, i just rate scholes, coukldnt stand cantana, keane or ronaldo, yet arguments could say they were better players, but to me scholes made them tick, he made them play direct, his passes & vision were unrivaled, so utd are worse team without him

i do believe he is a class footballer

Perhaps the last of a dying breed, a player who never had an agent.

One of the best English midfielders of the Prem era.

Never mastered a timely tackle, perhaps, but, club loyalties aside, surely we can all respect the contribution he gave to the game we all love.

Personally think it was a shame he missed their greatest hour through suspension.

He was a great player in his time misused by England managers ( left midfield FFS). He is also a dirty ginger rag cunt.

I think the opposite. I'd much prefer it if a player retires from their national team at 30ish, or when they start to get injuries, as it shows a bit of dedication to the club, which at the end of the day pays their wages. Also, he seems to be a quiet, family-oriented man, and may be the type of player who didn't take too well to the WAGification of the England team by the media.

One of the best midfielders to play in the Premier League. Glad to see him gone, hopefully Giggs will follow.

Not to mention he hadn't been playing well for England for quite a while before he retired, so probably was the right call. I'd rather a player retire early from international football, than drag it on forever like Beckham just to try and stay in the limelight.

If he'd worked hard at learning a basic skill of the profession he was earning a wage from he wouldn't have been suspended. His own fault imo.
