City knowledge of children born today

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

They will basically be rags. The obnoxious, arrogant, dumb little shits you see all over the place today. Slapping stickers on buses saying

love city
hate adug

Because after we have won our record 21st league title and 7 CL's and 12 FA cups they will need some kind of shit "Fans campaign" to help them believe they are involved and part of the club because they can't afford tickets as bolton at home will cost £180 and a SC will cost £3400.

The future is bright for city but not so much for the average fan i reckon.

That is so sad, but probably true.

By all means, teach them. Teach them as much as you can. I know it's not the same thing by any stretch, to live through it and feel it first hand. I'm as good as a football child at 27, but I read and learn more about the club (and the sport) every day. This past week alone I read and watched clips of Colin Bell, read the (latest) entire Munich thread and then the Wikipedia page to learn what it was all about, etc. Truth is, I know I'll never know, and that makes me sad, but at the same time, I know I'm lucky.

Think of it like the American Civil Rights movement. Yeah, your kids will never know the struggle, and sometimes you'll resent them for living in the world you "earned" for them by suffering through the hard years. But on the other hand, because you stuck by City through those years, now your kids can reap the rewards of their success and live in a "better world," as it were.

See, football always ties back into human struggle for equality.

Agree with the above but that's pretty much what fans from the majority of clubs who've won fuck all for years would say. We've not earned the right to win things because we're loyal, we just got fuckin lucky and won the lottery....that's what I tell my kids (minus the fuckin bit!)

Will always feel they have to say "we`re playing that team near stuttgart" in the next round of the CL and will carry inflatable starfruit to prove our class.

All my kids from being 2 yrs old have always held their noses and said "it stinks" as we pull up at the lights at fords/warwick pub. They don`t question why they do it. I tell them it`s because they play in red and that they are dirty, only good people play in blue and wear City tops...."Like us daddy?"...Yes boys.

Horrific on own clothes day at school for the little rags as my eldest boy shouts at the top of his voice pointing at the little shirted rags "pooh that stinks".

Before we get a little bit up our own arses about "we were the ones that looked after the embers", let's not forget that city were around well before we came along and there have been several other generations of City fans who have needed to tend the embers before we were born.
The likes of Beastow who was a major factor in those embers being lit in the 1st place, who helped stoke up the fire. Joshua Parlby, who took the dying embers of Ardwick and relit the fire as Manchester City and Laurence Furniss who kept that fire going in those early days by postponing his wedding by three years in order to pay off the club's debts.
By remaining loyal for the last hard period of City's history, the fans have without doubt kept those embers burning, but we weren't the first to do so and though we should be proud of our role, we should also respect and remember those who did similar in those hard days before we came along.

Hear hear!

It's up to older City fans and the parents of the these children to educate them and install a knowledge of City, and/or a passion for City that makes them find out for themselves.

I suppose John's doing that right there^ in a way

The thought of my children never having to optimistically wait fir a goal at home from January until the end of the season is a burden which is to much to bear
