I've been hardly posting, just reading, for the last year now, and it's funny to see the Marmite-like factions for and against Mario. Seems to be the truth is somewhere in the middle. I've seen him have plenty of very impressive games, others where he had no impact positive or negative, and others, like the Europa League game last season where he negatively affected the whole team.

The reality is, you can't second guess him nor how he'll develop. The likelihood is it'll be tumultuous, that he'll mature as he gets older, as per Ronaldo for example, but there'll always be an element of nutter. The only thing I'd be curious about is the many references to his 'blistering' pace. I've seen him beat defenders with speed-of-thought, and his positioning is excellent, but can't recall him ever running 80 yards, skinning an entire backline, ala Bellamy or Petrov in his prime. Overall he's obviously a better prospect than either of those two but I've never noticed pace being one of his big attributes.

We're as well to keep him here anyway. Negative press is something we're going to suffer irrespective of what he does, they'll find someone/something else to criticise, so as I see it there's no massive risk to us. If his performances are sub-par, we have Dzeko, Aguero, potentially even Tevez to play, if he does improve we'll be getting a world-class player, and an increase in value, quite possibly over and above what we paid to Inter.

If I was guessing, my money would be on something like 18 goals, 4 missed sitters, one 45 yard free-kick in a crucial game and a red card for headbutting someone. But, that's the fun, you just can't guess the lad.

What I say, is not a knock on him he's nearly 21 and young etc...

But at the end of the day, Balotelli is a striker who never hit more than 10 goals in championship and he never ever (in Italy U21, Inter, City) proved to be a hitman. This season hit scored in 3 PL games, and with a hattrick off two penalties.

Until now, I can't see why many of us would say that Balotelli is gonna be the next Trezeguet or Van Nistelrooy... because that's those kind of guy you could tell in the past that gonna score 20+ goals in a healthy season for sure.

And actually the only game where he impressed me it's the semi final against United. Until now, he didn't scored twice or a single goal off a crazy run against Chelsea, shut the mouth of T-Bag against United, or even scored twice against United.

He didn't nothing really crazy/epic/huge/major in his career right now. As funny, crazy and all you want that define Mario Balotelli is, he's all about potential.

I'm french and a huge fan of Benzema. Benzema, knew a rough first year at Madrid. But I stood by him to death because I saw crazy things.

I saw him that night in Glasgow, in the last game of CL groups in 2007 where striked 2 majors beautiful goals in the nets in order to qualify Lyon for the next round. And that next round was against United, and he scored a wonderful left-footed goal. I could talk also talk about that legendary last minute free kick against Saint Etienne (Lyon's biggest rival and derby) who gave the chance to Lyon to not lose against Saint Etienne for the first time in 12 or 13 years.

Benzema basically win all alone the French League for Lyon at 20 years old and was the best scorer the same year in the French Cup for the first double in the history of Lyon.

I didn't see anything like that from Mario until now. Don't get me wrong, I like him . But from what I see on the pitch, he's still all about potential. And until he delivers something according to his potential, I will not fight to death and accept everything from "potential".

Y'all will say to me I'm harsh on a young man yes, but everybody (including himself) says that he's a world beater and a future world class player, gagnant du Ballon d'or and a wonderkid. So I'm waiting from him to act like a young Trezeguet, a young Raul, a 20-years old Benzema etc... That's supposed to be his standard ? No ?

He's not going to Roma.

He will score plenty of goals, miss a few sitters, get booked regularly and sent off occasionally.

He will argue with Mancini, tw*t some Rag WUM-mer in a bar and the papers and sports media will lap it up.

Will be a bumpy ride.

This is exactly why you need to post more mate.
I've been watching this whole Balotelli argument go back and forth. Never quite being able to say what I think about it. I'm still pissed off about that red card and everything but in the same time I see the talent in him. There'd be little sense selling him now as he has shown potential but also needs some hardcore maturing. I can see that in few years he will have breakthrough season and if we are still pissed off about his overall behaviour that is the time to sell him.

Maybe I should've just said "this".
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

According to Oliver Holt's twitter (I know how popular he is on here) balotelli was bad mouthing city to some inter players and it got back to our squad who were less than amused.

He also tweeted that he didn't begrudge us a penny of our wealth, but that bit doesn't fit in with some peoples agenda on here so you can ignore that!

Marion looks extremely quick, but I've just not seen him either be bothered to run or having the opportunity. He doesn't play like an Henry, skinning the fullback and then coming in, so it may have to be a through ball or one over the top, but I think he'll skin someone, someday.

As for the 18 goals, 4 misses, 45 yd free kick and a red, I suspect that'll all happen in one 5 minute spell.

He's driving me up the wall with his bizarre attitude and press reports, but at least no one can accuse him of being boring. Somehow, he sort of gives us a link to the old, typical City, the complete barmpot.

As regard to his pace it is mentioned in a few articles.
As to how much believeability(is that a word) one wishes to attach to it is a matter for yourself but the blistering pace does come across sometimes.
