Yep. The lad is on a downslide in the past 2 years. When he became number one, at Poli, he was a great keeper. After 6 months, Juve made an offer for him, the club refused and that was the end of him, he started making mistakes. In june, WBA almost sign him, but they didn't accept the fee.

Pantilimon is the Juventus version of Ed VDS.

I have no idea what that means, but I think it makes him sound pretty good.

Haha. The calamity version of Juve's Van der Saar. God help us all.

Saw a video of him last night on youtube. He looks hilarious. So unorthodox. Looks confused by everything he does, as my mate quite rightly pointed out 'he looks how i imagine i look when i'm in net at five aside'....

For his unorthodox style I love him already. Gotta love a bizarre mental keeper that looks like a confused lanky tree.

the announcement seems to have been taken off the OS?

Just heard his agent on a local sport station discussing that the transfer may collapse because of the work permit. Maybe this was the reason for his missed transfer to WBA.

If i recall, his nickname is Bafana.

Jesus shit!

I didn't see that feller hold on to ball ONCE. Looked absolutely fucking horrible. If that's him at his BEST what is he like in bad games?

Let's hope we can't get work permit. For crying out loud.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

That is really being harsh.I thought he made some excellent saves ( as you would expect on a U tube video) and held onto quite a few which you must have missed. I have faith and will be very interested in how he handles crosses.

And every single romanian newspaper.

Placed on the transfer list after the demotion of Timisoara, goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is close to a separation from Banat group and the most likely destination is Manchester City was, as the sources quoted by Gazeta Sport.

Poly's general manager, Daniel Stanciu, revealed only that it is a strong Premier League club and is more likely to be ceded to England Pantilimon than at Udinese in Italy, which did not submit a tender please Banat.

"There is interest from two large Pantilimon clubs in Europe, Udinese and a club in England, who made a good offer from a financial standpoint, but the long term. We see today what happens next. I can not confirm right now it's Manchester City, can only say that today I received the offer and that in future days to come representatives of the team to discuss the conditions of transfer. I hope that within a few days to make, "said Stanciu, the GSP TV. (used google trans. because i didn't have the patience to translate everything)

Florin Manea, FIFA agent: "I think the chances are, if there is an offer, it's hard to deny Manchester City. Costel trusts him, he can play on a team of this caliber, expect to resolve the situation, they can go. "

Pantilimon's future sounds perfect. Though haunted by the nightmare second league, the former goalkeeper of Police is the protagonist of the hottest of the summer transfer. Goalkeeper came to Timisoara 5 years ago, the Aerostar Bacau, agreed with Manchester City and şeicii the band will sign with the Albion.

"We understand discussions have been extended in recent days and finally reached a positive result. In the next few hours will clarify everything, and will sign the contract if Pantilimon understanding will be respected," he revealed Florin Manea , player agent. The slope of training camp Friday night left the national team and took the first flight to England to meet with British officials and sign the contract. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed sent a private jet for 8 seats Gulf Air Fokker type.
And club officials initialed business Timisoara and slope will be sold for 2.5 million euros. "There was interest from those of Udinese and from a club in England. They made a clear offer and now waiting for club representatives to set up everything," he explained Daniel Stanciu, sports director of Timisoara. British offer is liked by Marian Iancu, who was not satisfied with the 1.8 million euros provided by Italy's Udinese.

The romanian press confirmed the transfer for about 2,5 mil. Oh lord, what a mistake we made.

The lad is mediocre, Stuart Taylor has a class over him, trust me, i see him every weekend. He was the national team gk, but only because the other gk, was out of shape. If Mancio will confirm, we made a horrible mistake.

He is tall like a tree, i give him that, but his arial ability is extremly poor. Even Dennis Wise can score with a header.

Congratulations on your arrogance towards the player. In a Romanian newspaper published a comment. And not all fans feel the same as you.
It is a good goalkeeper in the national team plays perfect.

If he's 6ft 8in, wonder if Bobby Manc is contemplating converting him to a centre-half ??

Hello lads.
I'm from Romania, recently arrived in London.
I've saw Pantilimon like every single game that he played because i'm a football lover. He's not having anymore aerial problems, as some says. He has some very good qualities. Maybe he's not the same level as Hurt is but when he will start to train with the rest of the team and the goalkeeper coach, he will easly increase. Probably you will see him first in Man City Reserves, and you'll like it. He's also close to the fans, a nice lad.
I don't really know why you are so outraged about his sign and so many of you criticize him without seen at least once.
Sorry for my not perfect english.
I really hope Pantilimon will make my words come true.

Go City!

Thing is mate, he'll be sitting on the bench behind Hart and will most likely not improve much at all. Lad his age, Romanian international and all, should be playing regularily. Proven, experienced older keeper would have been better deal for everyone concerned.

But hey, let's hope you are right about this lad.

A little update:

Just heard Timisoara's owner Iancu (Jabba the Hut) telling this (he is a laudmouth):
Image

Bob wanted Pantilimon and he still wants him, the the 2 reasons that the transfer news was taken of the official site are this:

1) City awaits for the work permit of the player

2) Apparently, Bob's door for Sorensen opened again and he is preparing a bid for the danish.

So, Iancu made a deal with City to stall the offer for a little while, untill Bob can see if Sorensen can come, instead City agreed to pay Timisoara 2 million over the asking price, so the fee it will be about 5 mil, but only if Sorensen won't come.

Imho what he said is 50 % true. Iancu has the "art of bollox" in his vains, almost two month ago he said Timisoara doesn't have financial problems and the second day they were relegated. For now we must wait. In a couple of days it will be sorted out.
