Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

With Pat Vieira retiring we must have a vacancy for a slow, over the hill, legs have gone reserve anchor midfield slot that Mancio desprately wants to fill.

Even the slightest prospect of the arrival of Scott Parker is about as uplifting as dogshit on your shoes.

I really do rate him higher then Barry, exactly the same sort of player and seeing how he won players player of the year last season he must be good?

Parker would be a good signing........if we still had Pearce as manager!

I'll bet there is fuck all in this.

Liquidity in this type of market is so small that tiny sums can shift the price. To move the odds of a home win in a game of football from 4/5 to 8/11 takes a decent bit of cash. To move Scott Parker to join us from 25/1 to 10/1 takes pence, to move it from 10/1 to Evens takes pounds.

Sneijder was 1/4 to join us earlier this summer. These markets are fickle, largely due to excitable football fans and not 'big hitters' who are ITK.

Move along.

Looking at our squad, particularly in the light of yesterday's defending, if we were looking to add depth it would need to be cover for NDJ or Silva. Parker can't tackle as well as de Jong or rally the troops, and his passing and movement aren't as good as Silva's. He would essentially be backup to Barry, Milner and Yaya, and even then two of them would have to be injured. No thanks.

There is a place for a 'homegrown' player, over 21 in the Chumps & PL squad. That's in addition to SWP for the PL squad & instead of him in the CL squad if he leaves. Are there other 'homegrown' players we could sign at this stage who could take that spot ? If not, we may as well have him as leave a place empty.

We have either 3 or 4 squad places up for grabs anyway in the CL & PL squad. Nasri would be one.

Players like Boyata don't need to be counted as they are young & 'club trained' & can go on the B list for Chimps Lg or U21 for Prem Lg.

No cancel that; we need 4 club trained for Chumps Lg so Parker couldn't replace SWP in that. Still be eligible though as we still have several spaces.

Exactly, how many times have you had betting suspend on managers getting sacked on the back of a rumour on the net

I counted two reasoned replies on the first page, including this.

At Bolton was I the only one who noticed that if DeJong is injured for any period, then Barry or Milner injured/suspended we are right up the creek without any paddle at all? We had no midfielder on the bench, and no sign of one coming (Nasri being an attacker). Vieira retired.

Wouldn't it be a shame to throw away our title chances because a few fans hate Scott Parker?

If the choice as cover is Scott Parker or nothing, only an idot would say 'nothing'. I dont know whether there's any truth in this rumour, but we need numbers.

I think Mancini agrees but whether his answer is Scott Parker, who knows ?

Perhaps Razak could fill in for a bit if there is a major defensive midfield problem, much like Boyata did when needed.

He looks a real prospect but the question is; if we can fill that place in the squad & the most realistic possibility is Parker, are we better with or without him ? I'd say 'with' personally. He's no worldbeater but he was voted player of the year last season!

Razak won't get any better while sat with his thumb up his arse watching Scott Parker. Don't get me wrong, I actually quite like Parker as a player, but I would definitely not sign him. What is the point in having a youth system if the kids don't get an opportunity when they deserve it?

Is Razak going to be given an important job if Parker is there or not ? I would say no.

Is Parker going to be given an important job? No, he's going to be fifth choice behind Barry, Yaya, Milner and de Jong (in whatever order you see fit). So why spend the money?

I understand your thinking but I see no real point in buying Scott Parker simply because we can. I'd say there are other areas where we could use that extra squad place. Another wide man, for example.

The reason for buying him would be if Mancini thinks we need him. (we have several squad places btw)
