A bit like Lescott and Milner seriously overpriced but not a horrible player. In the last two games he has had a goal disallowed and an assist disallowed for seriously innocuous pushes, once he gets a bit cannier I reckon he will be a pretty useful player. Better than K Davies who caused us problems yesterday.

The difference is that Milner and Lescott proved over several seasons that they can perform consistently in the top league. Carroll had one decent season basically as a newcomer to the league, making his price tag ludicrous. He is better than Davies though.

Listened to it in the car and was quite surprised with his comments, it didn't even need Keys and Gray to lead him into it. And as someone said, for him to come out with the comment that the Dippers are more likely to come from a goal down was just ridiculous, especially with Chelsea doing it Saturday. What's even more ridiculous is that fact that the I can't actually remember when they did come from a goal down, otherwise MotD would still be talking about it now.

Anyone recollect?

This.

Hope the media continue to love them. Carroll apparently is still promising whilst Dzeko has a lot to prove lol!

Talking of Carroll, he was fucking awful on Saturday. The jury has always been out for me, I've seen him look unplayable just as many times as I've seen him look useless. On Saturday he played like a real donkey. He looked slow, ungainly and about as athletic as Sam Allardyce.

Agree that the price tag is ludicrous but that does not mean he will turn into a bad buy, how he performs will determine that. Veron at the time was probably correctly priced but was a poor buy as he did n't do anything for the rags but he was by most peoples reckoning a class midfielder, whereas Ferdinand was at the time probably seriously overpriced but has turned out OK for them.

They are paying a huge sum for potential and he looks an expensive gamble but IMHO only time will tell if he is a horrible buy.

Caroll is a good player but should just be played the way we play Dzeko rather than pumelling the ball at his head for 90 mins. He can play football on the deck perfectly well scores most of his goals there.

Vastly overpriced though. I recon we could have done a deal to get him for half that.
