think its a bit of a harsh assessment carl and I question thats its worth starting a thread over - for me, he's not been the only one at fault for goals being linked and he very much lives in kompany's shadow as far as "fan favourite" will go
I think he compliments vinnie well, i like the partnership they have struck up and if anything this season has shown us that patience is a virtue - given a little more time to gel with vince, we'll have a top class defensive duo on our hands

I might be harsh as I watch this player like a hawk in all of our games...it just seems to me that he makes small mistakes that costs us or were close to costing us.

Exactly, if you watch anyone "like a hawk" you'll see many mistakes made. Even pro players are only human. Honestly with how good we're playing, this calling out of the same old players is getting really boring. Most likely suspects to be harassed in our current squad are probably Kolarov and Lescott. Both were part of the best defense in the best league last year, so they can't be doing too much wrong. I know they might not be your favorite, but they are a part of a TEAM that is playing incredible.

I dont see him as a weak link.... As others have said he's a very good defender, not world class, but a very good player nontheless.

When he plays well, I think there are few better, he is great in the air and a very physically strong player to beat.

IMO recent games, and whatever deficencies have been assessed about his game, we all know that he always takes 4 or 5 games to really settle into his form and produce the best football he can. I honestly think that within a couple of games we'll all be singing his praises.

Its also a strange time to try and pick a scapegoat to moan about after we just tonked spuds 1-5 away and another player completely was responsible for us conceding a goal! We should be waxy lyrical about our performance and our great start to the season, not trying to pick faults!

Vinnie and Joleon is by far and away our best defensive pairing. much much better than with Kolo there.
They were part of an outstanding defence, the best for very many years. Possibly even comparable with Doyle and Watson.
It works well, so why even bother picking fault? I bet Arse fans didn't berate Adams or Keown.

Can I bring up the fact that we had the best defensive partnerships last season with Lescott being one of them. Can I also point out that we have only conceded 3 in 3, admittedly not what we are used to but when you consider we've scored 12 in 3, 2 without Nige covering, then I'd say that's a damn fine stat.

Overall, I think Lescott's doing a sterling job and him and Vinny have got a very good understanding of each other. No complains from me, none at all.

I think Lescott is playing some good football and so far the biggest clanger of the season was Vinnie in the CC.\

Everyone in the side can improve, but they are playing some bloody good stuff. Despite scoring 4, Dzeko hooked a shot so far wide I laughed in the 1st half. Don't think we need to worry though as he did the biz.

Our defence is better than it's been in my memory, yeah it's not perect, but there aren't many better if any.

Is Lescott without a shadow of a doubt.......Ive watched him closely the last few games and his positioning is below par,sometimes nowhere near the player...is this down to him zone marking at every fuckign set play?

Am I alone in thinking hes the weakest link we have or have had these last few games?

I think you are hardly alone, but I don't think we have much choice or many options with a short time to window. Maybe Kolo will come back hungry.

It seems to me Lescott as streaks of great form, and then long periods of poor form.
