We have named it and Hargreaves not in there, nor is Bridge who is on the PL list. Interestingly neither are Assulin, Razak or Suarez (B List are in bold)

http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague ... index.html

Goalkeepers: Hart, Pantilimon, Taylor, Johansen

Defenders: Richards, Kompany, Zabaleta, Lescott, Kolarov, Savic, Clichy, Onuoha, Toure, Cunningham, Thomas Smith, Sean Tse, Veseli, Wabara, Helan, Roman (?!)

Midfielders: Milner, Johnson, Nasri, Barry, De Jong, Yaya, Chris Chantler

Forwards: Dzeko, Aguero, Balotelli, Silva, Tevez, Nimely, Bunn, Bradley Robinson

Strange. According to OS he's not there.
Champions League squad:
Goalkeepers: Hart, Taylor, Pantilimon.
Defenders: Richards, Lescott, Clichy, Zabaleta, Kompany, Kolo Toure, Kolarov, Onuoha, Savic.
Midfielders: Barry, Milner, A Johnson, De Jong, Yaya Toure, Silva, Nasri.
Strikers: Dzeko, Tevez, Aguero, Balotelli.

The following players were also submitted to UEFA on our ‘B’ list for the Champions League:
Bunn, Chantler, Cunningham, Helan, Johansen, Robinson, Roman, Tchuimeni-Nimely, Tse, Veseli, Wabara.

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2011/September/Manchester-Citys-Premier-League-and-Champions-League-squads

edit: now that I think of it I reckon it's more likely that UEFA has it correctly and OS doesn't

Cheers mate.

Uuurrggghhhh....if I'm reading thise properly we could've had SWP there without him taking anyone's place. Instead we just ditched him off.

I have to say that I'm actually million billion miles more pissed off about SWP leaving than Heargreaves coming in.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It's sad to see Shauny go, but if he starts playing regularly and playing well I'll be happy for him. This way, we can remember him as a flying winger rather than a bench warmer.

I see what you are saying but I genuinely felt that SWP still had loads to offer both on pitch and in dressing room. I know it became bit fashionable around these parts of internet to moan about him last season but he wasn't even half as bad as some people made him out to be. And he seemed to be back on top form in preseason anyway.

I really thought it was poor bit of business to let him go. I trust in Mancini and I'm one of his biggest fans here and I hated Hughes but I'm eternally gratefull to Hughes for bringing the little wizard back and I'm genuinely disappointed with Mancini on this case.

All sentiment aside, it's actually a fairly good business decision. He was on wages of around 65k per week I think. Say his contract would've run out on July 1 2012, that's about 3 million quid saved.

For the sake of FFP, we need to get to a place where we have high-earning first teamers and low-earning youth prospects. High-earning senior pros who can't get a game are no good to us.

Like I say, all sentiment aside, the deal makes sense for everyone. But it's obviously difficult to leave sentiment aside when talking about Shauny.

Again, I get the point about FFP but then we go and bring in Owen Heargreaves who must be on about similar wages (unless he is on pay-as-you-play).

Apparently he's on a relatively small salary with PAYP add-ons. If fit, he will feature more regularly than SWP would've done. I'm sure of that.

I genuinely hope you are wrong mate. Heargreaves is defensive midfielder and we are loaded with better players than him on that position. We do have depth everywhere but wings are probably our weakest area as far as depth goes.

But we've got a winger in Johnson who can't get a kick. The way we're lining up now is too fluid and changeable for chalk-on-boots widemen. Nasri and Silva are gonna play every game when fit. They sort of hang around in wide-ish positions, come inside, switch sides etc. I feel as though Mancini thinks the incumbent front four are intelligent enough footballers to be given free reign. This was a 'plan' that allowed us to absolutely tear Spurs to shreds.

If either Nasri or Silva get injured, I'd expect Milner to be the one to come into the side. Unless we start playing shit, I think Johnson is going to be a Plan B player at best. Had Shauny stayed, he would've been in the queue behind AJ. Harsh but true.

Upon reflection re the omission of some of the more talented lads from the EDS (Assulin, Razak, Suarez etc etc)....wonder how much of this is so that they can concentrate on the NextGen matches (which are...after all....supposed to be aimed at giving them the necessary European experience).

Any thoughts.....Douglas....any chance you can do some sleuthing!?!

Apparently you have to have been at the club for 2 years to get onto the B list.

At least we get to see Philip Lahm at first hand this year. Maybe he could've filled one of those places? Image
