As long as a poor result against Villarreal doesn't affect our domestic results and performances, I won't be hugely fed up. I just hate the spectre of the Europa League. I do NOT want to see City wasting energy in that awful, overblown competition.

I personally don't have a problem with the Europa Lge and in terms of the number of games issue - to get to the Europa Lge final from the start, you play 19 games, the Champions Lge - 17 games. Hardly a huge difference.

Also if it came to the worst and we didn't get through this group, then a run in the Europa Lge would help our Co-efficient points to possibly push us into pot 2, if we qualify for the Champions Lge again for next season. Currently our co-efficient ranking due to us doing little in Europe in recent years, save for a UEFA Cup Quarter Final in 08-09 means that we would potentially face another group of death next season by being in pot 3 again.

I'm surprised at the number of people going for a draw. There's no doubt at all for me that the bigger the Bayern win the better.

Bayern will top the group, no doubt about it and by far the best result for us is that they spank Napoli.

Agreed, although goal difference will only come into play between us and Napoli should we draw in Naples. But we want to play a Bayern side that has already qualified - no doubt about that (and I said as much higher up the thread).

I know it is further down the line and not quite on topic, but i have the feeling we are going to learn quick enough and beat Bayern in the return. Also have the feeling that it will still all to be played for between the top 3 in the last game. tbh i hope i am wrong.

Bayern win. i'd rather they had won the group by the time they play us so they might be a bit slack so we could grab a shock win? I can't really see us winning in napoli but hopefully by the time we play them thet're a bit off form.
