"we'll score when we want"

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I'm glad this thread was started, well in Arjan.

That chant is disgustingly arrogant and has no place being sung by City fans, with humility we gain respect, with arrogance we become what we despise.

Poznan's pretty good. That chant is really really bad and kind of proves that people are starting to forget where we are coming from. Not "City Way" at all.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I asked this in a thread the other day but didn't see a reply. It's definately one that I won't be getting into but I can understand why we sing it. Songs like this are borne from what's happening on the pitch and it was more of a spur of the moment thing rather than trying to emulate the Rags 'We'll do what we want'.

Enjoy the moment as they say, it maybe very different tomorrow.

Good point, actually. It's unlikely to be a song that lasts for years.

If we sing it when playing them it's funny. Sing it against Wolves or some other team who haven't spent big and it's arrogant. In the same way that waving cash at Chelsea after the takeover was funny it wouldn't be if we were still doing it to everyone now.

Of nothing else, be a bit inventive and think of a specific chant for the opposition

Perhaps when we're playing against them, but in any other game it just comes across as crass and arrogant

I think alot of people are starting to get precious. Its mostly being sung against fans who give it "what a waste of money" or "your gonna win fuck`all". It`s banter, its a good put down. I for one sing it and don`t think I`m arrogant when I sing it and as it was born out of a rag song to piss them off makes me happier.

If we're getting rid of this then I say we bin the Ocean finance nick-nack-paddy-whack droll that is spewed forth every now and again. It sends a revolting shiver down my spine when I hear Blues singing this, it's a rag song.

We should get rid of ANY song ever sung by the rags, any song that mentions the rags, any song ever sung by any team that has ever scored a goal against us. While we are at it we shouldnt sing anything in any way offensive to anyone ever. We should all just sit down and keep our mouths shut throughout every game and shush anyone that talks. Then after the final whistle we should politely applaud the oppo fans for aslong as it takes them to leave the stadium and then we should all line up along the route the oppo team coach takes and applaud them all the way out of manchester and THEN we can all sleep soundly knowing people we don't know and will never meet who don't give 2 fucks about what we say or do don't think we are arrogant. Oh and remember to tip your showsec representatives.

Just so you are aware, WE are not getting rid of anything. The fact that the songs are sung loud and clear show that you lot are the minority when it comes to singing and have no say in the matter whatsoever. I remember when that song came about before the CC games against them and everybody loved it, what changed?????.

To those saying that people that feel this chant is arrogant are being precious or over reacting, may I ask what is the one thing you most despise about Rags?

Like has been said, to sing it at their ground when we were humiliating them was fucking hilarious and I bet it really stuck in their craw. To carry on singing it when playing other opposition is too Rag like for my liking.

There are alot of people around me, in the South Stand, who've never liked or sung along to the Manyoo nursery ryhme song! We always mocked them for singing nursery rhymes now that tune is sung more often by us. We are fortunate to have a large repertoire of songs, can we just stop singing one average rag tune?

Not overly fussed about this. It's tongue in cheek. I understand how it would appear arogant if it were to continue for any length of time so probably best to ditch it.

On a related note, the Mancini song has reached overkill imo. It was great when he was getting it in the neck from all angles (see Fulham last year) and in the early days of herman being a twat but it has started to lose some of it's impact. If you tell someone you love them every five minutes it soon loses value. I also noticed after the derby when the players approached the fans to acknowledge them that it was being sung then. I thought a song about the club/team would have been a better shout.

Love Bobby to bits and the song is fantastic but I think it needs to be used more sparingly.
