haha, i know what you mean. i have countered this feeling by still expecting us to lose pretty much every game we play. and still expecting to wake up one morning to find that the sheikh has got bored, sold city to sven and bought something shiny, like indonesia.

I have my own personal reasons for feeling nostalgic. I had a season ticket between 1993-2011, but had to give it up this season for financial and other reasons.

When I see the club's facebook page and some of the nonsense spouted on there by 'fans', as well as on other forums and - less often - this one, I can't help feeling that the club don't need me any longer. I feel like the partner in a relationship who got dumped because he couldn't keep up with the ambition of the other.

I don't long for the shit teams of the past but I'm proud of the shifts I put in watching abject performances at Prenton Park, Bloomfield Road, the McAlpine Stadium and Bramall Lane. There's a new breed of City fan coming to take my place now, and they'll only ever know success, media exposure, a pretty stadium and world-class players. I might not have my season ticket any longer, but I do take some satisfaction from the dirt under my fingernails.

The important thing is to remember the old days!!! To appreciate where we are and not be arrogant. To appreciate that we are in the PRIVELEGED position of playing in the Chumps League. That if we come third in the group we are in the PRIVELEGED position of being the Europa League. A position that many clubs and their fans wish they were in.

Stay grounded blues. Stay humble. And enjoy and appreciate what we have.

Well put.

I miss atmosphere. Occasionally we get one but on the whole I think our fans are absolutely crap now. Buggering off before the end etc etc. Thery're very very loud when things go well away from home but that just brings back a memory of how it used to be as they often go silent when the chips are down & when the camera goes on them you see a load of people stood with their arms folded. Why are they even stood up to do that ? In the old days we got louder when things got worse. Most fans in the Prem are shit now but ours used to be better than all of them. Not anymore. The sight of all those people stood in silience at one end v Villareal was just sad. I still hold out hope that it will get better as we win stuff but I fear it may be gone forever apart from the occasional game.

It would come back if they brought in safe standing & made it cheaper.

Other than that, on the pitch, this is becoming my favourite time to be a City fan; I don't miss misery at all. I just wish The Kippax was there to share it with me.

I guess the problem I have with the new days is that expecting to win every game can only result in disappointment, whereas when we expected to lose every game we were only open to the possibility of a pleasant surprise.

The fact that it was against Newcastle is nothing short of cruel to most of their supporters. I bet they had to shovel in emergency bags of crisps.

I never fail to smile when I listening the radio and someone says ........and league leaders Manchester City are playing.................

It takes some getting use to.

So the last 30 years have been great as a City fan, but this is better.

I disagree but not in a bad way at all, and probably not to a great extent either. I have ALWAYS loved every minute of being a Blue. It is great now but it has been great since I was 7 years old. It is just great now in a different way from how it was great in the past.

I am not putting it very well.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.
