Have some sympathy with OP here. It is in our DNA to hate the fuclers or certainly has been since I was a whippersnapper. As for the conspiracy theories , when you add everything up that we´ve seen or heard down the years there is clearly a whiff of something with regards to the attitude of the big wigs towards us, be that PL or UEFA. The status quo is under threat and that always breeds fear amomg the ruling classes

Most fans think the hierarchy have an agenda against their respective team. Arse fans do, bindippers do it`s a football thing. I would imagine unsettling the "knob 4" didn`t go down too well with the powers that be at sky and on fleet street but so what. We`ve seen that hacks cannot hide their allegiance to their clubs when reporting (paedo beesley comes to mind) maybe except Martin Samuel, so that kind of journalism starts the conspiracy ball rolling. I do beleive at some level there is a will to stop us if only to get ratings towards the end of the season, how good will it be for sky to have the league decided on the last day of the season? cos at the end of the day that`s what it`s all about.

Imagine if you will, sitting on the toilet, having a particularly tricky one. You could choose to blow your nose - on the one hand this would assist peristalsis, and certainly move things along a bit quicker towards achieving your goal. On the other hand, it would also clear your nasal passages, and no-one wants to suddenly achieve a perfect sense of smell in that particular situation.

Mate, being from abroad I don't know first person the hate between City and United fans, but I think I have a fairly good idea of it because of what I have experienced in my home town between Lazio and Roma. You have every right to rub their nose in our success (not that we have had a lot of it yet, but we are arriving there). Also, it makes me smile to read people saying "we shouldn't always think about them" etc. I know that every time a City game ends I go to see what United has done, just like I go to see what Lazio has done when a Roma game ends. That's how opposing fans are, they might not admit it but the Rags do the same, I'm sure of it.

This said, we are a top team competing for the title and we shouldn't let this hate distract us from our course. We have our fate in our hands if we keep winning, and that is what we should all focus on.

You may say that if we fans debate about United this is not going to distract the players, but I believe that if everyone around the club keeps being worried about United coming back and possibly going ahead of us if we drop other points in January, this will be perceived by the players and they will feel even more pressure, making it easier for them to get a game wrong and drop points.

EDIT: Just an afterthought I decided to add, about the comparison with the rivalry in Rome between Lazio and Roma; that is an harsh feud because of the fact that both teams are from the same city, but neither team has been dominant in Italy for as long as the rags in England. If I had to pick a team like that in Italy, with suspects of conspiracies in their favour (which have been then proved), that's Juventus, with whom Roma has another long going feud because of some events of the 80s.

The people who keep going on about Utd being experienced and unstoppable are mostly the same people who criticise the rest of us for saying teams roll over for them & they are not as good as they used to be; start multiple threads telling us not to post derogatory comments about them & how we will be left with egg on our faces if we dare to suggest they may be left behind by City. Almost gleefully shouting from the rooftops if there's the slightest possibility we could be wrong because they win a game or two.

City fans have always known we will have to perform if we want win the league. The way fixtures are we may find it impossible not to slip behind them for a spell. That doesn't mean we won't win the league. It's possible to be realistic & also see faults in our opponents. If their facade gets punctured again they can have a bad spell, if teams do their jobs when they play them. The rags are not the force they once were & the biggest advantage they have is the wave of bullshit which helps them to persuade teams to roll over for them. The myth is that, because in some of those years they've fought against the odds to win a title; they become some kind of unstoppable force every Christmas.

How many times have they finished above a side who are clealy better ? Not very often I would say .

How many times have they had resulsts which have BLOWN them the title when they've had a genuine, viable challenger ? I would say quite a few times.

They, and their mates in the media, have aknowledged that City have a better squad but been pushing all season 'wait til this happens, Utd will do such & such' & some City fans are going 'ooh Utd are going to do this' and why is it ; 'BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS DO' No they fucking don't, they've done it once or twice in 20 odd years where they've won it against the odds. Most of the time they either win it because they are a better side than the challengers, lose it because they are inferior or they fuck it up with some shit results against teams they should have beaten. There is no 'unstoppable machine' there never has been.

They have been the side with the best squad on average for twenty odd years. Most of their titles have been won because of it. Now their squad isn't as good, they are trying to psyche their way to the title & some City fans are buying into it.

How many of the results on their current 'title winning' pre Christmas run, would ANYONE expect to be different if predicted at the start of the season ? The answer is: NEWCASTLE. Everyone would have had that down as a home banker.

The myth that annoys me the most is the 'they always come strong after Christmas' bollox. It's just not true, their points haul from their last 19 compared to their first 19 is usually identical every season( Statto.com if you want to check ). This is something that old gin soak has spoon fed the media and them clowns repeat it ad nauseam until everyone believes it's true.

The only evidence needed to highlight that they arenot the force they once were is in their CL performance this season.
