I know our fucking history, however we are not Gorton St. Marks, we are Man City and traditionally we wear Sky Blue with white trim - never has Black played a part on a CITY home shirt... and neither should it.

Pretty sure we had a black trim in 93/94 and on one of the Philips/Saab shirts.

You're right about the Philips/Saab one, but we have had black one one of the mid-90s shirts. Also, in recent years we've had a black background to the badge on 2003-04 Reebok kit, and a black trim on 2004-06 Reebok kit. So, for the past 20 years, we've had black incorporated in our home kits for at least 5 seasons.

No we haven't! None of our shirts in the 90s had black - though most did have navy blue- So black hasn't played a part on our Home kit at all!

actually you know what, you are right the Barton era Reebok shirt had black on it... however this is the only time we have had black trim on our home shirts... and as that was 1 of our worst home kit ever it has it makes it a tradition

The home kit before the first Kappa one.

Plus the other two kits I mentioned previously.

Sounds ok to me but I'd be surprised if the badge was altered, whether that be blacked out or whatever, as I'm sure when they started making our kits again Umbro made a big thing about the colour always being right and the badge being prominent and unaltered.

Something about the blue in the badge meaning we always have the home kit colour with us whether playing at home or away.

The home kit before the Kappa one; the one that makes me think of Steve Lomas (cheers for that btw, could've done without it), had navy blue on it not black, as I remember.

I prefer tradition normally, but the black trimmed kits shown, don't look too bad as it goes.

apart from the reebok home shirt I previously mentioned, the others were all navy blue trim or shields. We need to firmly established our identity around the world - City wear sky blue shirt with white trim

Okay, I'm quite happy to concede that (although it still looks black to me- unfortunately my old kits are packed away in the attic somewhere), but I've honestly never considered a white trim to be a part of our 'identity'; however, that's probably because navy was introduced to our kit around the time I started following us . Although I'm not 'pro-black', I'm not averse to a change, although I would prefer navy to black.

Like has already been mentioned but doesn't seem to have got through..our first ever kit was black so to say we have no history of having black in our kits is quite simply laughable

For fuck's sake... no what hasn't got through is that GORTON ST. MARKS wore black - sure our origins are traced back to them but also to ARDWICK who wore navy blue and white stripes!
as MANCHESTER CITY we have only ONCE had black on our shirts - the awful Reebok effort from 2006-2007. And we wore black shorts and socks for one season in the 1890s... just because we can trace our earliest incarnation to Gorton doesn't mean we traditionally have to use that colour... clearly we never have apart from TWO away strips! Not that hard to get your head around is it?
We ARE NOT GORTON we ARE MANCHESTER CITY and traditionally we have no black in our strip.

I have no problem commemorating our origins in an away strip but really, really don't like changing our home shirt into a Coventry strip!

I like our current home and away kits, wish we wouldnt change them...

[and I like the third one from 09-10 (the white with the red/black diagonal stripe).]
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Whatever the kit looks like it will surely look better than the new rag, arse, and Barcelona ones for next season. They look shit. Glad we dont have Nike.
