Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing?

Ted is talking a lot of sense here. We got what we could at the time. We were a bit naive in the first couple of years with our hit and miss transfer policy but thankfully that seems to have changed in the past couple of years where the majority of signings have been made with the future in mind.

A perfect example of getting what we could at the time is Clichy's comments when Adebayor and Kolo joined us compared to his comments a couple of years later when he signed for us.

Talking of players coming and going in large numbers, Blue Moon Rising was on TV a few weeks ago and although it was only made a couple of seasons ago I was looking at the players and thinking "Gone... gone... gone... gone... going... gone... twat... gone... ". Who knows what will happen in a year or eighteen months. It was pretty heady.

Wonder if Torres would be so insulting if we came in for him tomorrow ? The further up the ladder we go, the better players we can attract.

Pearce had no chance of signing Elano. Sven had no chance of signing Adebayor or Tevez or even Wayne Bridge. Hughes had no chance of signing Aguero, Yaya or Silva. Bob had no chance of signing Ronaldo, but he does now.

by the logic applied, then some of the players we have now will be gone in the summer, replaced with 'better' ones so who get shifted and who is better? Its not that easy.

You only need to think back a couple of seasons to see a dramatic change in our playing staff. As we rise through the football hierarchy, there is no reason to suppose that our evolvement will slow up....except where the Fair Play rules have an impact.

Your logic above is quite reasonable.

A manager builds a team. He looks at individual psychology and builds collective psychology. Its the most important part of the job. Bob's a cold fish. He's a control freak who can't handle dissenters. He builds a team of gutless yes men and marginalises those with alternative views and strong personalities. Then people wonder why the team has no balls. I dont.

That's a big accusation without any evidence to back it up...Do you know Bob personally, or is it info you have dug up from the supportive and complimentary media coverage he gets?

Every club makes good and bad buys its just that we do it on a bigger scale. When ever you take a player out of one team/club environment and put him in another theres no guarantee he will fit, its always a chance and a risk thats what people forget.

I think the truth is a slightly less offensive version of this.

Bobby will handle egos, trouble makers and bad boys only if he thinks they are the kind of players to take us to the pinnacle.

Hence why Balo and Tevez got away with more than Bellers and Ade,

Even less truth in it than that PBL. He didn't think Bellers was worth the trouble for sure, Ade was sulking because he wasn't automatic first choice. Didn't realise Bridge and Ned were such strong characters! Bridge always seems so wet and Ned's a bright boy who had worked out that Mancini already didn't want him when he said what he said on the telly. He then needed his mum to fight his battles for him so cannot see that he stood up to Mancini!

I loved the first half of the season but in à way it created such high hopes that it becomes hard to keep a perspective on things. Theres nothing abnormal with this slump. It happens. Bottom line though, if mancini can't work with this rop bunch of players, hes not our man.

Also, did not know Ted likes bellamy. WHO would have thought.

transfer window i would have straight swap ade for defoe, let milan have tevez on loan then 25 mil in the summer. kept onohua as back up for komps and lescott, savic on loan, i would have kept guidetti start of season just in case of injuries and suspentions, played the same team week in week out for the champs and prem league and tweaked in the fa and carling cups. and away from home play one lone striker and flood the midfield with 2 defensive midfielders and 3 attacking midfielders. i would say nasri and silva cant play in the same team, they are too alike so rest silva for nasri on occasion and if needed bring on as a sub......

The only changes I would have made was keeping Ireland instead of Superjaw, Hangeland instead of Lescott and Mata instead of Nasri. Happy with the rest.

Before Nasri came here I'd have wanted him over Mata. Now having seen his effort in games I'd much rather we bought Mata instead.
