Good choice. One of the best English players over the last few seasons and great captain material. Happy days.

Goalkeepers shouldn't be captains, needs to be an outfield player.
We're hardly spoilt for choice either. Parker is probably overrated but he's not shite as some here would make out. Gerrard possibly should of been captain but he's a cunt as is Rooney as is Ferdinand.

Why does it? The goalkeeper can see EVERYTHING that is happening on the pitch. If he's a loud, commanding keeper like Schmeichel then there's no reason at all it can't be a keeper. I could hear Schmeichel clear as day from the second tier of the Kippax at Maine Road, so it's safe to assume that Anelka and Goater could as well.

Oliver Kahn captained Germany and Bayern Munchen and is probably one of the best captains I could think of.

Care to expand on this or are you just trolling the board again?

Your point, in which you contradict yourself by saying someone young like Barry should get it is beyond WUM.

Take your blue tinted glasses off and think why a guy who wants to prove himself in just one game would think about 'the future'.

Echoed here.

The decision to make Pawwka Captain is right up there with making LookatMe a "legend" on here.

There was an issue with Gerrard in the last friendly. Liverpool thought there was an agreement he would only play an hour. He limped of with a knackered hamstring after 88 minutes or something? Perhaps they have been moaning to Pearce about playing time. If Pearce agreed he would only play one half then he may have been less likely to make Gerrard captain.

England have a pretty crap team and a very crap manager for this match. I am glad that a City player wont have to do a "losers" interview after the match.

It's bollocks that, god knows how many times wio started as captain and didn't finish the game, likewise Gerrard previously. There is no rule that the captain should stay on the pitch.

At the end of the day the vice captain, in the absence of the captain should be captain until such time as a new manager is appointed. Either Redknapp has tipped SP the wink, or SP thinks he has the job for a while.

I'll defend LookMum all day long. He's a smart poster. With an opinion and a brain. And he's funny as fuck.

Disagree all you want but he's contributed a lot to the site over the years IMHO.

Plus who can wrestle CARL like the alligator that he is? Only LookMum. Just sayin. That counts.

Ill disagree with you 100% on all of that.

Unfortunately when someone quotes his posts I have the misfortune to see them. Pity.

If you can't be bothered to sing the National Anthem I'd have them out for good. Forever. Do not pass go that of course includes that ugly abortion of a car crash that is Wayne (worth excluding for his first name alone) Rooney.

Which part is bollocks exactly? I only offered a suggestion as to why Gerrard has not been chosen. Given that Gerrard is not captain, the England manager clearly thinks that your view is bollocks! Well... he doesn't agree anyway!

For what its worth I actually think you are right! Making Gerrard Captain would have made sense until a permanent Manager is appointed. Pearce is caretaker Manager - there is no way he will get the job on a permanent basis whatever happens tonight. In the OP I referenced Redknapp because my opinion is that he has decided who he wants as Captain when he is England Manager.

Fucking joke. Scott Parker is one of the biggest cunts in football. Should have spent his life in the obscurity of West ham, QPR or Fulham. Better still, Millwall, where he would feel at home - cunt that he is.

Nasty, snide fucker.
