6 million is taking the piss for a striker of his quality, even if we don't want him - was he out of contract next season or summat?

I believe he was. And if he wasn't we just saved the delta between his price and value in salary.

I wish him well but wish he landed anywhere but spurs. Hate them. And still like ade.

Very good business there for Spurs - if 5/6m is true then that is a great price.

I'd like us to have received a higher fee but at least it's some money in bank and reduces our wage bill by a considerable amount.

I have to say that chap Levy is some smart operator.

Not particularly likable but seems to be very sharp in getting good deal - and with a ruthless streak.

Just loved the way he played the Olympic stadium episode

I fucking hope for 6 million that we are fully rid of paying any of his wage. I imagine thats why the price seems to cheap. 3 or 4 year deal will add another 12 million if he's on 80k a week over that rough time period. I'm sure we had him on around 120k a week too.

He is one of a few left overs from the mercenary period where we had to pay over the odds in order to get us up into a position where quality players would want to sign for us for the prestiege, not just the £££

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but according to one of the journos on twitter apparently we're still subsidising his wages.

Can't believe that tbh, either we've sold him, thus are not responsible for his wages or he's still on loan so we might be. Twitter stuff is generally bollox .... big bollox most of the time at that

Highly unlikely. I'm confident the deal represents a clean break and the bargain price reflects that. I understood he was getting a few million signing-on bonus to compensate for the hardship of dropping to £100k per week. Tough life innit?

although didn't we buy Robbie from Leeds while they were still paying his wages (even continuing when he went to Scouse on a free)?

I wouldn't want to cross him, put it that way. I think ruthless is an understatement. I wonder if the Sheikh could get him onboard...

Saw some rumours that Lokomotiv Moscow want him & will match his wages. Spurs won't apparently. Russia is far enough away for my liking!

Is this the adebayor who signed permanently for spurs last week?

It is perfectly normal for a players contract to be paid up where the club have instigated the transfer. Whether that be as a lump sum or paying him weekly, it amounts to the same thing. I dont have any issue with Adebayor getting what he is due under the terms of his contract.

A fee was agreed between the clubs last week. Adebayor is haggling with Levy over wages.
