An I the only person who read that and thought that was exactly what Chelsea thought a year ago?

He's a rich mans Stephen Ireland for me. His superman seasons have been and gone.

I don't think Chelsea's Drogba-based, longer-ball style of power play suited Torres.

With City's greater invention and flair, he could flourish again with the goal-scoring chances he would have in abundance. He, quite possibly, could do well at somewhere like Spurs, as well.

I agree with that, I think he'd be a cracking buy for us (depending on Aguero, Tevez, Balo or Dzeko moving on) or Spurs

he's lost most of his pace. but even more worryingly, he gets pushed off the ball far too easily now. imo, he's not cut out for PL anymore and would be better suited to roma etc.

I say Adios Amigo . Keep Tevez and Aguero together, have Edin come off the bench, or Balo if we must keep him. I hope we dont tinker too much, I think other than another defender and a winger we have a Champions League Winning Squad. If Carlos and Bob play nice, I think we have an amazing chance at winning it, I mean, Chelski just won it for petes sake!

Look, I know it's flavour of the month thing to slag him off and all that but bottom line is that he is skillfull striker who knows where the onion bag is. Would ease the pressure should we sell Tevez (which I still think is the case) as he can occupy similar role.

He must've lost the onion bag then. A goal every 300 odd minutes isn't impressive by anyone's standard & certainly not someone apparently worth 50m (or even, say 15-20m).

I'm not saying he's lost it all for good, but can anyone guarantee he'll get his mojo back? For the fee & wages we'd have to fork out it's a pretty big risk if you ask me.

He's a player long past his best. This is exactly the type of signing we've criticized the management for making in the past (albeit at a a slightly higher standard). He has shown absolutely nothing to suggest he can even be half the player he once was.
He's a hasbeen. We should be looking to sign a youngish player who's yet to peak and can grow into a class player. If we are gonna sign a Chelsea striker it should be Sturridge. (he's a c*nt I know but an exceptionally talented one)

Definitely not. I was more suprised that he had such a good record for that season and a half at the dippers than anything that's happened since.

Look at his goals to game ratio for athletico and spain amd now for chelsea. He's a one in three striker and he has already peaked.

Take tevez away amd replace him with torres and city are weakened.

It's strengthing I want.

In the interview he claimed to be at the peak of his career. Yet when Chelsea needed 5 heroes to take penalties where the fuck was the £50m striker at the peak of his career?

He is fine when things are going his way. Questionable motivation when they are not.

Watching the shoot out, pissed off that his request to take one of the first five pens was turned down.

I think he's going to be Chelseas main striker next season. He'll have to be having cost 50 million.

I dont think he's an option.

Cavani/RVP/Falcao would be my prefered striking targets.

I agree. Once Drogba goes cant see Chelsea remaining with the power football that suited him. Its served them well but not many managers bar Capello will continue with that. If Torres gets the service and a run in the team he can be their main man next season, but Id rather we went for Cavani, if Dzeko goes

What a ridiculous post! Torres completely saw his arse and pretty much begged to be given a chance to take a penalty!

Id be more suprised if rdm gets the job than if Torres leaves, but in a way it may be better for us if they both stay there...still alot of re-building to do there

Not for me, thanks.

Would rather stick with who we got - or maybe one signing. Am hoping Balo's finally learned from being sidelined for almost all the run-in. Dzeko? Yes. And as far as I am concerned, Tevez can stay but any more fcuking about.... Is Torres really a safer bet?

One thing easy to overlook is the value of a settled side, which paid off in spades the last 6 games. We spent so much energy last 3 or 4 years assimilating loads of newcomers. And some of them were shite. You don't always know what you are getting until it's too late.

From a purely financial aspect, i think Torres leaving is a total no go unless he hands in a transfer request and someone will pay 25 million plus for him. I cant see either happening if dog breath leaves.
