Stewart Regan (SFA) issuing threats tonight that Scottish football will die if Rangers aren't back in the top flight within one season.

Go die already then.

As many know, i think the lack of historical insight from the English that "modern" football was built on the back of Scottish immigrants creating a professional class player about 100 years ago is tragic, and the ultimate demise, if you can call it that but it's more of a denouement, of Scottish football is sad really.

i think that it's time to bring those scottish clubs into the English system in League One. Sure, some English clubs will have some gripes, but get the Scottish teams to "pay to play" and create a fund that benefits lower divisions. If you are in League One i'm sure 100K a year from the Scottish clubs that would have the funds to play in English leagues would make a difference to your club. Better still, earmark that cash for youth development and you start to solve some of the core problems it seems that English football is allegedly plagued with from what i read.

Just to recap...imagine 20M spread over 10 seasons for League One clubs to spend on their youth setup. Would that matter to English clubs?

just spitballing as they say, so don't get too wrapped up around my maths, but...you get the point i think. What do you think?

cheers

Go read a legit book about the history of football Burt.

For me if you've got welsh teams you have a precedent. Simple as that.

I'm surprised by the alleged divide between scots and English. Do you believe that most on either side have the beef that people have raised in this thread or is it Internet grandstanding?

most English people couldn't are less and if we had a vote on their independence, they'd be straight out.

Most scots I speak to have a hatred of rule by the English, not of the English individually. Think how you feel about people in Washington making decisions which affect you in Florida. Then move Washington to Canada and imagine how you'd feel. The football one is something I hadn't got until a conversation over Xmas - a Scotch (I know, but it annoys them) fan complained how he has to pay the same as an English fan for Sky Sports, but they show about 1/50th as many Scotch matches and the English league gets about 99% of the cash. If I was paying £40 a month for that, I'd be a bit aggrieved as well.

As for the Welsh, they've always been there and have worked their way up the divisions the same as everyone else, so why not. But it wouldn't be right for Rangers or Celtic to come straight into any of the top English leagues at the expense of an English team.

I suspect the only way out of this for the pair of them is some sort of northern Europe or European league. They should be amongst the richest clubs in the world and yet they are outbid on players by league 2 teams.

Most people (apart from Goaters103) seem to have missed the point. This isn't even Glasgow Rangers anymore. Glasgow Rangers entered the liquidation and therefore exist no more. Sad or not, that's the way it is.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

On Talkshite, they are going on about Scottish football being in peril if vRangers stay out of the top league for any length of time.

Can't you see that's what's wrong with it you stupid cunts ?

Try bringing through some players instead of wasting money signing shite from all over the world.

This. Spot on.

Ive seen Rangers since the mid-80's when they were crap under John Greig, and have see a succession of expensive imports come through the door - some good (Laudrup, Gascoigne, Cuellar, Edu, Jelavic, Amoruso) and many bad (Salenko, Ortiz, Boli, Vidmar etc). The irony is the recent squad had the largest number of scots lads in it that I can ever recall but afte years of living beyond their means, the death knell dropped.

Think your right. In fact I think we should extend your principle further and delete every league in the world, as the Prem is the only league that is not a bag of wank and people outside England give a fuck.

They get free prescriptions though, which perhaps might even that out in some cases.

Rangers should start at the bottom of the pyramid like any other club would have to. Just got to get rid of Celtic now and once that's sorted it might turn into a genuine competition.

The main issue is one of trying to have your cake and eat it so to speak. Either they want a Scottish FA and a Scottish National Team therefore a Scottish League, or you Disband the whole lot. Why should English league Take in "Foreign" teams? Should we take Ajax as well?

As a casual Hoops fan I fucking hate Rangers

However..as much as I hate them it's sad what has happened

Without rivalry what is left of football?

As much as I find the idea amusing..would you really be happy if the rags folded?

I live for that rivalry..it just wouldn't be the same without those pantomime villains across the road

The makers of GoalRef and Hawk-Eye goal-line technology have told Rangers they can't use the system next season.

Apparently it doesn't work with goal posts made from jumpers.
