Oh, and in club like ours we should always have at least one decent keeper coming through who'd be third choice. Richard Wright FFS! Guy was actually pretty shite even when he was highly thought of in Ipswich. And this was like ten million years ago.

Was Richard Wright in net for them when we played them in the FA Cup and Eyal Berkovic scored that screamer from the corner?? That really does feel like 10 million years ago I have to admit

Wright is perfect for the role imo. Good signing.

For a 3rd choice we could have done worse.

Taylor btw turned down a new contract from us, wasn't let go.

o did he?thats fair enough, prob has ambitions to be a second choice not a 3rd choice :P

He is one of the 4 keepers on the City squad shoot today I thought it was him when I watched it this morning but dismissed it as bollocks.

But no Marwood has done it again. Marwood is ex Arsenal so it makes sense he loves to buy anyone to do with Arsenal. I think we may make a late bid for Anders Limpar to fill the void left by AJ.

this is the link to the photo shoot. Wright is seen on the back row and he's tiny compared to the other keepers.

Julio Cesar to QPR, Richard Wright to Man City. I can't help but think there has been some kind of mix up here ... With Richard Wright, Scott Sinclair & Jack Rodwell, are we filling some sort of home grown quota?

I think we are.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I thought Nielson got released?

Nielson was released but resigned when Taylor left.

As for Wright, he is a hell of a good drummer.

What is the fucking point of having an EDS and academy setup if the brightest young keeper doesn't even get a lookin as third choice senior keeper?

Remember him and Weaver were the future of English goalkeeping.

I’d rather bring Nicky Weaver back.

It's decisions like this that makes me think every single player in our youth setups will never get a crack at playing for city ever.
What is the point in bringing in someone like Wright when we have youth players there waiting for the bit to chomp at?
Absolute joke.

Funnily enough he would fill Club grown player quota and would actually make lot of sense from that perspective.

It was Wright, Weaver and Green who were supposed to make goalkeeper real strength for England. It was position of weakness until Hart.

Weaver would have been a top keeper if he wasn't a pisshead.

To bridge the gap between them being absolutely nowhere near it (as of now) & possible 1st team squad keepers (as of a few years from now).
