It is not a surprise to me. A couple of years ago I would walk into a pub being the only one in sky blue, but that has changed a lot over the last few seasons. I very rarely see City shirts around, a lot of Chelsea, some scum, but no more than I did 5 years ago. I live in an area where most players are Latin, so you see a lot of Barca and RM shirts, not too mention a lot of Brazilian National Kits. The support is growing, but apparently not very overtly. If City were to open a store in Times Square that would change quickly.
I say the same as FB... was at some pubs in Hoboken (just outside NYC) recently for opening match weekend, and saw one Silva jersey..and City was not even playing that day... usually its just me in the City shirt, but its getting better man.
The first time I met another City fan stateside is when Benjani scored against the rags.. met a few at this bar FADO in philly.
Then that night on the subway, saw another fan that was a card holder.
Then met some great folks at the pre-season game v. Sporting a few years back.
I still need to get to the mad hatter in NY for a game...but yes - build a city store out here, please.
