His attacking prowess was there for all to see and although he didn't have too much defending to do, put some good tackles in. My only gripe yesterday was the countless number of times he was in acres of space on the right wing and nobody would pass the ball to him - I was screaming at the players to pass to him but we kept insisting on playing in the middle, especially in the first half when we found it difficult to break Villa down

You really genuinely thought he was our BEST player on saturday??? Wow.
Him being unfit has nothing to do with his injury. He was unfit even before that. Guy has been playing in Italy for years where you can basically walk to attack. He has had litte defensive duties. I tried to explain that he had been used mostly as wingback in Inter when some people started showing me some team sheets from some fucking website claim otherwise. Perhaps these people should actually watch football every now and then.

TBF he did bring a lot to the game on Saturday, Villa had very little chance to get set as he bombed on, lots happened down the right, a little unfair to be slating such an impact, Even stopped for a chat with the fans..

I didn't say he was bad on saturday. In fact he was pretty good. But best player on the pitch,LULZ, no.
Generally speaking, we seem to have these players like Maicon, Kolarov and to an extent Balotelli who are "great to bring in when we are three up". I don't understand the need for players like that. I want players who are great to bring in when we are three down.

Yes I did. Why do you find that so hard to understand? Did you watch the game?

What? Of course I saw the game. I didn't think Maicon was as exceptional as some of the other lads and I find it weird that someone did.

I'm not really sure where you are going with this.I would be of the opinion that players like Maicon and Kolarov are the kind of players you would want coming on when you are behind and need to make something happen.Ideal players to bring on when your chasing a game.
Anyway back on topic i felt Maicon played very well on saturday. In fairness he does look like a few more tough training sessions might help get him up to speed fitness wise but other than that i could not find fault.

So who was your motm?
Piccsnumberoneblue wrote:As we have virtually no width and what we do have is expected to come from the full backs then Maicon, it could be argued, is ideal for big games. Micah naturally gets forward, Zabba is getting better at it, but from what we've seen, Maicon is the best of the three for getting down the wing and delivering decent balls into the box.
He changed the game v Spuds and did ok on Saturday.
