it is a screamer to be sure, but I never really support this type of goal for goal of the season. It looks fantastic and he caught it perfectly, but I don't think it's of the requisite skill to be goal of the season contender. I think it pales in comparison to the volleyed shot hit by that defender recently, for example.
I think it's as much a goal of the season contender as johnno's goal against newcastle, which is to say, not much (though it looked fantastic)

That Aston Villa lad who hit the volley, if that doesn't win goal of the season then something is wrong.

It's laughable at those trying to take away from the goal by blaming the keeper's position. Imagine if that was Aguero or Tevez. Don't think anyone on here would be saying 'keeper should of done better'

Maybe a couple of non-native speakers.
Other than that you are correct, though. Ridiculous to suggest that was stoppable.

have you seen how fast that ball was moving!???
I would have saved it in my youth he never jumps he just seems to fall backwards.
I'd have bicycle kicked it all the way back into the opposition's net. Probably twice a game.

Nobody would've saved that shot. What the fuck are some of you on about?
Nothing Schwarzer could've done, other than predict the future and expected a CB take a shot from that angle in that corner and therefore already cover that corner and thus leaving a gapig hole to his left. But that would be retarded. Just like saying Schwarzer, or anybody else could've saved that one.

I reckon if Pants was quick enough he'd have the reach to get to that one. But that's about it.

In my youth I personally would've invented teleportation and moved the ball a yard to the right before he hit it. Hilarity would've ensued.
