True no-one ever goes onto make much of themselves after playing for Monaco.

We have ended up with a couple of ex-AS Monaco players who turned out to be total no-hopers

Anyone remember that no-mark A Bernarbia or the current waste of space Y Y Toure....

Both at the start of their careers, not when they are 27 and just hitting his stride. Next 4 years are going to be the best of his career and he is spending them at a club not even in Europe, could have problems staying in the French league and almost certainly in violation of FFP should they qualify next season.

I think it's fantastic. Good for Monaco and good for football.

It's just a stepping stone to Real Madrid. AM can't be seen to be selling direct to them so this is just a short term smokescreen. He won't be there longer than a year.

Fuck that. They'll challenge for something in the next few years and it will be fun. People said the same shit about Kun. I dont get why city fans can forget our trajectory so quickly. Let Monaco do what Monaco can do and enjoy it.

Why would it be better for football to have him be one more cunt at Madrid or Chelsea? Not more interesting for me. Id rather a reason to search out a monaco match or two and see what's cookin.

We were in the Champions League when we signed Kun, FFP wasn't 12 months away and he was young enough to see out his contract and still be younger than Falcao is now(until the contract extension...yay!)

We are talking about one of the top 3 strikers in the world signing, as good as Kun is, he is not.

Yaya was a better comparison, but he has been playing here 3 years so probably before your time.

Thats a very short term outlook seeing as ffp comes in at the end of this season!

Not really. If they do their spending now while Europe is not an issue then show improvement in their figures over the next three years, they will have no problem at all.

Only one national FA has been stupid enough to implement domestic financial "fair play" regulations. And it is not France.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

I have to agree with you here big guy ... No reason for us to criticize Monaco. Not only because we've come up in terms of wealth as well, but even if we hadn't, the only reason to knock down Monaco is to keep the established order in place. We've no reason to support that, especially not in France.

Maybe after this people won't do their silly 'city pricing' ... we can go back to being quoted relatively fair prices for players, and they can all focus on giving out 'monaco prices'.

There was no chance of a Premier League team signing Falcao. Thanks Joorabchian

Agree with the newby Doomperson, good for them! Will be great if the French League have two seriously competive clubs in the Champions League. One of the best matches I ever saw was Monaco v Deportivo, will live in my memory forever (8-3) was pure luck I happened on the game through the red button just as the first goal went in!

FFP is going to be an issue for them for a couple of years but what choice do they have? If they don't spend big they don't challenge for the league...

Yes yes, it's great that the French QPR are buying up players, let's all cheer the French Harry Redknapp on.

City fans aiming the barbs at Monaco that we had to put up with?
Fair play to Monaco, shakes things up a bit.
