Mike Ashley insults Newcastlefans by appointing Joe Kinnear

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I think he called Lambias Lambada or Lambrini in the TS one.

This morning on Alan Brazil they were actually worried he'd gone right off his rocker and maybe he'd had no contact with Mike Ashley?

Bizarre to say the least. Especially the bit about him being more intelligent than the fans, which he clearly isn't!

That would be funny.

And Ashley can't remember, because he's been on a bender with Gazza.

Jesus.
I was in job interview few weeks back and afterwards was thinking whether I gave too rosy view of myself. This guy gets new job and goes in front of media and out and out LIES with seemingly no guilty concience.

Now THIS is why the 'director of football' system gets a bad name; clowns empowering clowns to tell other clowns what to do.

That's why I haven't been more vocal against the system despite not liking it in principle. We at least can afford to bring in guys like Beguiristain and Soriano who are, without a doubt, some of the better people in the world in their respective jobs. But then someone like Newcastle watch us and fucking Barcelona and think "hmmmm....they might have a point there" forgetting that they would have hard time attracting anyone actually suitable for the crucial job.

Then they go and hire someone like Joe Kinnear. Now I can only imagine what the thought process was behind it. I mean, Joe Kinnear once did really fine job with Wimbledon as manager. Not going to take that away from him. But he is essentially hired as football executive director here. His forte as manager was that he could make bunch of average guys play to their strengths and got maximum effort out of them. In director of football system that is the job of the coach rather than the director of football. Director of Football doesn't have to be some sort of epic leader of men. He needs to be able to identify talent, strengths and weaknesses of the squad, be able to negotiate with both players already in team and players we are looking to sign. He needs to have mid to long term vision of how he is going to mould the squad. These are strengths of SOME succesfull managers not ALL. For example, I think Jose Mourinho is much better manager than Wenger. But I would NEVER hire Mourinho as director of football but I think Wenger could be even more suited to Director of Football than he is to day to day coaching.

Hell, I would probably rather have Pardew as my DoF than Kinnear.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You know what? I'm saying I've been gobsmacked by the appointment of Joe Kinnear, but thinking about it; even in these hours of incomprehensible stupidy from Ashley, he has STILL not eclipsed the work of the great man, the legend, who was Peter Swales.

The bloke employed a fucking reporter from the Sunday People as our director of football.

We still hold the record.

club have apparently just announced his appointment and stated he will be Pardew's gaffer.
and apparently he's got Alan's parking space

"Newcastle United have appointed Joe Kinnear as the Club's new Director of Football on a three-year deal.

"Joe will report directly to the club's Board as the senior executive in charge of all football-related matters. Chief scout Graham Carr and manager Alan Pardew will report into Joe."
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Kinnear's appointment is a not so subtle way of trying to force the incumbent manager, who is armed with an 8 year contract, to resign and thus drastically reduce his pay-out.

Id wager Pardew's legal adviser will be urging him to sit tight, let a loud mouth kfa like Kinnear hang himself in the press, and then walk away with dignity and pay-out intact at a later date.

The interview on TS last night was one of the weirdest things I have ever heard.

I am no Newcastle or JFK expert but even I knew he was lying with some of the claims he made.

An utterly bizarre appointment.

He's only been LMA Manager of the Year once as well, he claimed 3. Might have months confused with years there though.

I get the feeling (not having seen him and not knowing him) he's not well enough to be doing a job. I know he was always a bit 'off the wall' but it sounds like he is living in a fantasy world. I can't see him lasting the whole season.

The general opinion though is the job he does is borderline irrelevant. This appointment is designed to push Pardew out the door because Ashley can't sack him due to the massive contract he is on (which has 7 years to run I believe)..

If one man can be twat enough to cause Pardew to relent and resign, it's Kinnear. Working under him will be hell on earth.

I'm aware of the general feeling, having posted about it in the second reply in the thread. I don't like to see people exploited if he IS genuinely unwell (but I'm not really in a position to say one way or the other).

Ooops my bad! Should have been more attentive to the thread! I blame the weather, wish it would just thunder my head is muzzy as fook!

Back on JK, can't believe he is unwell, he was like this in his previous tenure so most likely just a bit of a deluded twat.

More than likely going to be exploited however, he has scapegoat written all over him. Ashley is definitely playing games.
