Arsenal have been in champs league for last 17 seasons. They have been in quarter finals, semi finals and a final. Their high ratings have been earned.

Given these facts (below), do you think it is fair they are still in pot 1?

a team that have not got beyond the last 16 of the Champions League in the past three seasons or finished higher than third in their own domestic league since 2005are still ranked as one of the heavyweights and given a more favourable draw because of it.

They have been a pot one (or top-eight ranked) team in each of the past 10 campaigns, but have not beaten another top-ranked side since they eliminated AC Milan in the last 16 in 2007-08.

Their only aggregate wins over a team ranked in the top 15 since then were over Villarreal (ranked 12th) in 2008-09, and Porto (15th) in 2009-10, the last time they won a knockout match in the competition proper.

But they have a knock-on effect for almost a decade, due to teams having easier draws for an extended period of time which (almost always) sustains their position in the upper rungs. Barca could lose every group game this season, fail to qualify for European competition for the next three seasons and still be almost certainly nailed on for a spot in Pot 1 in 2017/18 were they to finish third or fourth in the league that year. Were they to qualify each year and draw 2 or 3 games and still finish bottom of the group each time, they could never drop lower than the Pot 2/3 border, due to the country coefficient.

I'm not complaining about us being in Pot 3 at all, as based on our performances in Europe in previous seasons and being runner-up in the league this is what we deserve, but Arsenal continually in the top pot shows there is a problem with the coefficient system. Just over 20% of Arsenal's coefficient points are derived simply from the fact they are an English club. Identical European performances from, say, a Cypriot club, would put them slap-bang in the middle of Pot 2 based on coefficient. Identical domestic performances would put them in the Europa League second qualifying round.

And the reason we are in pot 3 is due to our performance in the uefa cup in 2008 but for thaj we would be in pot 4. I don't waste my time with what ifs or this isnt fair. Bring them on whoever we get lets show europe were a force to be reckoned with.

From first pot both Portuguese teams are winnable. From second pot Only PSG and AC Milan worry me. From fourth pot try to avoid Napoli and Bayern Neverkusen.
