Go back and watch the derby again and you will see what he can do when it's 2v2 in the middle of the park. He was superb.
Short memories.
I recon they effectively had 6 in midfield last night, then just pushed the whole thing up into our half so the 'midfield' was effectively 20 yards from our box. Fantastic to see, having never seen Pep's Barca in the flesh, but this is arguably better, because they are faster, harder & more athletic than Barca.
Fernandinho looked like someone who understood what was happening & was quite capable of dealing with it. His team mates didn't.
Spot on. I called the 6 v 4(and our 4 are mostly attacking midfielders) in the match day thread before the game even started. So naive from Pelligrini, who i blame clearly for last night. Same tactics and formation in every game this season, pep would of watched us and rubbed his hand sit was so easy knowing in advance what we would do.
Fair comment but for me the test is for the next game we play v Bayern.
I can understand him thinking we are much better than Malaga etc & our 'wonderful' players like Yaya & Aguero will step up & keep the ball, run their balls off tracking back & foil Pep's plan.
Now he has seen the reality.
Everyone knows what happened, even Jamie Redknapp knew when I saw the aftermatch stuff late last night. So we will find out what the Count is made of when we play them next & whether there is anything more to him than one system.
The bizarre thing is that the U19s played like Bayern & Marwood, Vieira, Khaldoon, Soriano were all there shaking hands with them as they came off the pitch as if to say 'this is what we are talking about'.
Then the 1st team plays like Kevin Keegan is in charge.
The 'holistic' axe can not be far away if that continues.
