He stopped dead staring at Torres.

As I said not alone, but 3 of them all failed to deal with thr cross and he was amongst them.

Easy targets would be Hart or Nastasic (who should definitely have cut out Torres' cross for the first). But I understand why Matty was signed and why Joe remains number 1. I don't understand why our title winning midfield has been incrementally replaced with inferior and/or remarkably over-priced players.

I am amazed people are still backing Garcia, albeit a minority. He's so far and away the worst player in this squad, it beggers belief he gets any support on this or any other forum, in my opinion.

Nastasic and Clichy are pretty much dire at the moment too.

However, Pellegrini selecting Garcia at all was the biggest mistake yesterday. Hart's was appalling, absolutely, but if the manager has a blind spot the size of Wales over a player as awful as Garcia, expect more of this shit.

Can't argue with your assessment Fibd, it was dodgy doh! Hart the flippin' flapping fluffer between the posts who threw it again.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Agreed, all on Joe yesterday. We should've won a point but his fuck up cost us.

2 issues:-

1. Is Fred better than Barry? For me, yes. Whilst he has not had the time to show it yet, he is definitely getting better and is adjusting to life in the Prem. He gives us more going forward which suits Pellers and whilst he may not read everything that goes beyond the full-backs he has shown me he can break up play and fight fires in other key areas. His direct run through the Chelsea midfield yesterday was quality. Barry could never do that.

2. Should Garcia play anywhere? For me, no. He did play OK against Chelsea but he did not show me anything Milner could not have given. Not sure if it has been mentioned but could there be a language issue with Pellers team selection i.e. Spanish speaking outfield players? This may tell us why Milner, Dzeko, Jovetic, Lescott, Richards ain't getting a sniff?

Not sure on that. Can't see Pellegrini going with three in the midfield against Norwich so expect Garcia to go back to the bench.

I thought he played well & I'm glad to see anybody in that position after having nobody doing that job all season.

But in the end, imagine Roy K**ne doing that job instead, quicker, tougher, harder in the tackle & more creative.

I've been saying for years that we need to find that kind of player, not a Barry or a Garcia or a Nige, or Yaya or Fernandinho.

Find a proper star & who is also an athlete for that job, & the midfield will be absolutely fantastic.

We missed Barry yesterday - his calming influence would have been a massive bonus, especially as we won the midfield battle

My feeling about Fernandinho is that I have been underwhelmed by him. He's not bad, he just doesn't do anything particularly well. There is no doubt however that he has been slowly underwhelming more successfully, was decent at West Ham and pretty decent yesterday. To me his problem is that Ya Ya is given priority then F gets asked to do what Ya Ya isn't. Some games working out what Ya Ya is trying to do can be difficult.Personally I think the best side of his game is forward runs with or without the ball, but he is not quite clear how much licence he has so often opts to do nothing much.Garcia was decent yesterday, because he could get closer to the oppos in a 5 man midfield. That taught us how good a five man central midfield could have been with Dino, Ya Ya and Barry.Interesting the count has come to the same conclusion as me about James. Will never let you down but will always let you down.

I can't believe he's regarded higher in the pecking order by our coaching staff and we still have Rodwell or even Milner. But the main reason would be because he's Spanish.

Add to that, he was lucky to stay on the pitch. What on earth was he thinking when he elbowed Torres, the latter was going nowhere!

If it was Barry or De Jong they would have anticipated the danger and would have been back there defending. Where as in Garcia he was ball watching for me, he wasn't close to any Chelsea player to make it sound any better.

I was disappointed with Fernandinho's efforts for the first goal. He failed to put any pressure on Ivanovic leaving him with a free header and then got himself in a good position to double up with Clichy on Torres but did nothing. I'm still puzzled by his valuation but early days yet.
