Time For A Jinx - City's 1st Pot Of The Season

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

That's not to say you're not looking tasty enough in the league too.

The consensus around the office I work in is that Barca is too close to call. Certainly not what you'd have thought with Mancini still in the dug-out.

Don't know how much it is the new signings, or whether its just a feel good factor in Pellegrini, but its safe to say that you're fast becoming again other fan's most enviable team. Goals galore. A ST at The Etihad must be dreamland at the moment.

You'll have scared Arsene witless with that performance last week.

So, thanks and all, but, if, MASSIVE IF we put Spurs to bed tomorrow night, I pray we don't draw you next.

Pray for me. I'll be bottom tier - amongst 4000 other travellers with OB cameras monitoring our every chant.

Happy Christmas, Citizens!

Merry Christmas Walmi fella. Shame we have to consider meeting Sunderland in the final and not whu.

In truth, Spurs were poor, to be frank....they've got to be given that we started without our three best players on the pitch.

A rumour went around the away end, during the 15 minute lock in/sing song, that we'd drawn Sunderland.

Just a minute part of the spring in my step disappeared when the truth dawned on me.

Its a high old hurdle, but tonight I am going to bask in the glory of winning twice in just about 2 months at WHL.

I'm afraid I am very unlikely to be getting a ticket for the away leg.

Cannot tell you how pessimistic everyone is about the forthcoming semis.

We've only sold 1500 for the first leg and are seriously struggling to shift the home tickets too.

A cricket score awaits, with all of our central defenders injured.

If you play a team of reserves, you'll still easily prevail.

3 years ago, we were knocked out of the LC in the semis, by a team in blue, and went down.

History will repeat itself with the Walrus in charge.

I obviously want us to win Walmai and would like to do so by a big margin in the first leg to allow us to rest key players from the second leg, however, I also want you guys to stay up. I like WHU as a club and as a place to go to as an away supporter. I wish you every luck until the end of the season and hope you get rid of Allardyce (i have never liked him but thats a just a personal thing). Hopefully Carroll will be back soon for you after he and Jovetic have decided to earn the money they are getting paid.

Good luck in your battle against the drop.... I see Steve Lomas is now available after being sacked by Swindon..... or the is always the loveable Di Canio!

Mistake sacking the Italian is haunting them, sadly. In all my travels to London never met fans I like talking footy with more than West Ham supporters. The real deal.

It goes without saying i'd like you to stay up Walmai and i think you will, in this fixture i want your lot to take a hammering and us stroll off into the final to face an up for it Sunderland. ;-)

Our boss really needs to get a pot in the cabinet early doors and will see this as a very good chance so i hope he plays full strength home and away.

Hope you aren't at Forest today pal. Been a disaster for West Ham. Confidence can't be good going into the semi now

Basically a youth team though, Notts. I think Sam is lining up his best 11 available for Wednesday. Interesting that The Rags play today and Tuesday, whereas we played yesterday and play Wednesday. Makes me smile, but the fixture setters got that wrong.

Still had 2 or 3 first teamers in though. Likes of Downing, Morrisonand Jarvis. Still, reckon they'll be a lot of pleased Forest fans at work tomorrow!

As matters stand, this I reckon is our strongest eleven for Wednesday night:

Adrian (new-ish keeper signed from La Liga in the summer, still taking time to settle in, but fairly good at shot-stopping)

Demel (reasonably skillful for a big fella, but a little too easily turned by a good winger)
Tomkins (if he's not in custody, given he's up in front of the beak tomorrow) (and, indeed, if he's recovered from his groin strain)
Collins (again, if fit - hardly the kind of centre-back to give Negredo nightmares, but one of the few players in our colours prepared to put himself on the line)*
Rat (signed last summer from Shakhtar - a good start with us has soured and he's now considered to be strolling through the second half of the season)

Jarvis (had a decent game in the last round, but too often goes missing)
Matt Taylor (I am not even joking here: Noble is definitely out)
Diame (Occasionally plays well and appears to raise his game for bigger teams)
Downing (just back from injury - probably rushed back, in fact, after that maggot Flanagan for the Mickeys raked his achilles, requiring 15 stitches)

Ravel (if he doesn't diagnose himself with another 'injury')

Maiga (who scored his first goal in 12 months in the last round).

Our bench will be the standard you saw on ITV today, although goal machine Carlton Cole and Jack Collison may feature on it too. Along with Noble, we have Carroll and Reid unavailable due to long-term injury.

Expect us to still be managed by The Walrus, who the goblins are too tight - or, worse, too fucking stupid - to fire.

West Ham fans are famed for dancing the conga around the stands when their team is getting a pasting. I will be watching in disbelief if you are not 3-0 up by half-time.

*If these two CB's are both out, expect Diarra and McCartney, who are both makeshift CB's more used to playing elsewhere.

I hate to say it but only typical city could lose to that lot.

The City team you had in the 3rd division would beat West Ham at the moment.

If it wasn't for Sir Paul Dickov we'd still be there. THE most important City goal I can recall....more so than Aguerooooo.

Have to disagree. Aguerrrrooooooo is only topped by the birth or ones children. Nothing else!

Nah, got 3 kids, the Aguerrroooooo moment made me jump around for 10 minutes and scream and cry. I still get emotional watching it now. however, the kids are just a pain in the arse ;-)

I know which one is my no1

I am not so sure we were that good, My Father in Law a Hornchuch Hammer tells me he is fakin ecstatic Now Roger Johnson is linked to joining on Loan From Wolves Via Sheff Wed ...... he also added he left Forest so angry on Sunday. 4th from the bottom would be a miracle come the end of the season.

Postby walmai » Fri May 09, 2014 5:24 am

Well, well, well...

Obviously, the pressure is off for us after last week's win. But I wonder what effect that will have on how we approach the game.

Some, but not all of our team, will want to revenge themselves for the thrashings we took for the temerity of being drawn against you in the cup (when we had an injury crisis to boot), so perhaps expect Adrian to be looking to keep a clean sheet.

Nolan is scouse through and through and would also want to ensure he wins our inter-club goal scoring table.

And, bless him, Andy Carroll is still under the impression that a good game might impress Hodgson in terms of Rio.

For the fans however, if we had to list the teams that we did NOT want to win the title, LFC and CFC are level-peggers at the top for teams that we collectively hate.

So, lets hope for a nice bit of weather and a good old fashioned, nail-biting kick about.....

....and a 5-5 draw to send home everybody happy.
