If its 3-7 week injury it would actually be a relief. I fear worse.

Lets hope for the best.

As for Pardew - cunt.

Pardew should be praising the referee for keeping 11 Newcastle players on the field.

I'll never know how Steve Taylor wasn't booked he did about three snide challenges in the first 15 minutes

Cabaye did about three bookable fouls after he had been booked.

Sissoko should have gone first half.

I notice that Pardew took off waiva or whatever his name is before anyone could get their revenge.

Indeed. There is no such thing.

Same. If hes back in 7 weeks I'll be extremely happy, I fear it'll be longer. Hope for his sake he doesn't miss the world cup. And for our sake he doesn't miss the rest of the season!

Indeed there is such a thing - as I mentioned previously, medial ligaments are nothing like as serious as an anterior cruciate, if that's what it is, there are degrees of severity of course as with most injuries of this type.

http://www.ucsfhealth.org/conditions/mc ... tment.html

MCL Tear
Treatment

On average, it takes six weeks for a MCL injury to heal. The initial treatment for most grade 1, 2 or 3 MCL tears focuses on reducing the pain and inflammation in the knee while immobilizing the knee to keep it stabilized. This includes:
•Resting, icing and elevating the knee
•Taking pain relievers, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, to ease pain and swelling
•Wearing a lightweight cast or brace that allows your knee to move backward and forward while restricting side-to-side movement. It usually is recommended to keep the knee immobilized like this for 72 hours, depending on the severity of the injury.

The cast or brace may be designed so that you cannot bend your knee at all. If this is the case, you will need to modify your behavior so that you can avoid having to squat, kneel down or bend over. You should try to keep your leg elevated even if you are sitting in a chair, to reduce blood flow to the knee.

Once the pain and swelling subside, you will begin rehabilitation, which will include exercises to restore strength and normal range of motion to your knee. If your knee feels sore while you are doing these exercises, you should proceed slowly to prevent further irritation.

If the torn ligament does not heal sufficiently, you may experience instability in the joint, and you will be more susceptible to re-injury. The MCL usually responds very well to non-surgical treatment, although surgery may be required in rare cases. Depending on the severity of the injury, a period of rest, bracing and physical therapy usually is sufficient to heal the tear.

Once the MCL has healed fully, you should have a minimum of long-term effects, providing there was no other damage to the knee.

Recovery times differ depending on the severity of the injury:

•A minor, or grade 1, MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal sufficiently for you to return to normal activities, including sports.
•A grade 2 tear can take from two to four weeks to heal.
•A grade 3 tear usually takes from four to eight weeks to heal, unless it is associated with damage to the ACL, in which case the recovery time may be longer.

Could be just bruised ligaments in which case 4-6 weeks. If it's torn ligaments his season is over but I doubt it. The referee saw it so no chance of retrospective action. He basically bottled it after Pardew's bullying.

Nasri Yaya and Dzeko out for Blackburn game obviously. We should be able to win without them.

The FA changed their rules. Even though the referee saw it and handed out a card, Mbiwa can get a retrospective red and yadda yadda. I think this challenge surely calls for it. Doubt anything will happen though.

Me as well but I think that for anything to happen, the press needs to give the issue momentum and as they will probably focus their attention on the disallowed goal I think Mbiwa will walk this time. I hope the FA proves me wrong though.

Pound to a penny the FA do fuck all about it, hiding behind the chestnut of 'the referee saw the incident and acted accordingly' and conveniently forgeting their new retrospective action campaign

Fortunately Nasri's studs were off the deck as he got hit, so it's unlikely to be a really bad one. If his foot had been planted when the challenge came in he could have been fucked.

Oh yeah, was deffo a red, just hopeful that Samir is fortunate when for the contact was made. Hope the FA do have a look at it, although to be fair we probably see many challenges similar to that in loads of games, and without an injury, a yellow is given and we all move on.

It's a reckless challenge and to me any reckless challenge should be a red card regardless of the outcome for the other player. Unfortunately it doesn't tend to work that way though does it normally.

I'm struggling to remember an incident which is as blatant as this other than the Thatcher/Ke*ne ones. Of course there have been bad injuries, but this was a clear, calculated assault resulting in serious injury. Nasri would have every right to call the police in on this one. The football authorities surley have to take action.

This is surely a special case where the player should receive a long ban ?

Roy Keane got away with a horrible assault which ended a player's career even though he admitted it was a psychopathic act of revenge. Why players think they're exempt from the criminal law in these cases I don't know. Maybe because, in effect, they are.
