We want to be able to recruit a goalkeeper that can actually compete with Hart. If he knows that we will always opt for Hart when it really matters, he'll see little incentive to come to us. Costel's good enough to play in the final.

Panti for me as well. Very good point about back up keeper, though it wouldn't surprise me to see 2 new keepers next season.

Panti not only deserves it as the so called cup keeper, he deserves it on merit

Panti deserves it after what happened last season.

Bit off topic but I don't rate Valdes AT ALL and I hope we stay well away from him

But on topic, I don't mind really. I think Panti is a good pro and in a way he'd deserve a chance to shine but he is our no.2 keeper and imo he can't complain if MP chooses Hart.

He was flapping around like a wet duck in the first half against us - shame we didn't test him more.

Panti deserves to see the cup run through to the final.

Me neither, but I've a suspicion he may be our No1 next season.

For the final, I've no issue in who plays, as long as it's handled properly. If the team gets announced as usual, then whoever is in is in, but you can't say you're going to play one then change your mind on the day. I don't think Pants helped himself with what he said last season, but the change of keeper should have been obvious to all after that point, not least as the defence needs to prepare for whichever one is playing.

Fuck Valdes. I want Costel in goal for the Final.

Related, Joe Hart's hair in FIFA 2014 is fantastic.

I think that Joe's a really nice guy but he simply hasn't fulfilled his early promise and has cost us serious points last season and this season. I much prefer Costel because he commands his box, deals well with set pieces, actually 'catches' the ball most of the time, rather than punching it anywhere, and his distribution is better than Joe has ever managed. The defence seems to play with more confidence in front of Costel too - less panic and more at ease with passes back to the keeper and they get out quicker in anticipation of his faster more accurate distribution.
It's academic but IMO if Costel had been given the jersey for the FAC Final last year then we'd have another trophy in our cabinet right now.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Disgusting what Mancini did to Panti last year...his word meant fuckall and I hope Pelli keeps faith with Panti.

I wouldn't bat an eyelid if we sold Hart tomorrow , he has been average AT BEST this season.

Blunt but so true Carl - so very true.

I used to be in your camp but after that double save against us on one of our corners where he first beat Kompany for the incoming corner and then rushed back to grab the ball just in front of Ferna.... I don't really know what to say. I mean it's one save in one game and all but... fuck... that sequence. Well impressed.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Not true at all. Panti had a good run of games but started to look decidedly shaky towards the end and Hart was brought back in, If Panti had been a better option he would have stayed first choice. Hart is a better keeper.

The idea is that we are trying to win things. To do so we need to pick our best XI, which means Joe should play.

Whats interesting will be our team selection - assuming Jovetic is injured but all others are available, Id say Zabba, Kompany, Demichelis (sigh), Nasri, Ya Ya, Ferna and Silva are the 7 certs. No idea who gets the call in goal or at left back, or whether we go 5 in midf or throw Aguero straight back in up top.

And if both get injured can we nominate Dzeko as third choice keeper ahead of Wright? He has height and apparently is expert in keeping balls out this side of the goal line ...

Joes our best keeper IMO and we need our best possible team out. If we play Panty then may aswell leave Aguero out of the squad to too.
