Correct, love the skipper but he fucked up. It happens...

Vinnie's fault.

I agree with that. Vinny could have forced him away from goal.

Sometimes it's far better for defenders to delay a player or just jockey him rather than dive in to try and win the ball.
Borini was by himself and we had two back. If Vinnie had just stood his ground, at best Borini would have got a corner.

I suppose he made up for it with that last ditch tackle later on but how anyone could attribute any blame to Demichellis for the goal is ridiculous.

Neither covered themselves in glory - Demichellis slowed right up believing Vinnie would deal with it instead of busting a gut to get goal side in case Vinnie didn't deal with it (which he didn't)

Just watched it again - Borini runs straight past Demechelis who just jogs along. Vince should have done better, but if a defender had been alongside him, he wouldn't have had to be there.

Demechelis is a liability.

Demichelis might not be good enough, but neither is Lescott and Nastasic seems to be treading water - I expect the main focus in the Summer will be a new centre half

No sentiment in football and how motivated is a player who already said he's going? He was bloody crap against QPR when we won the title and as we won the match today, it seems churlish to question if Lescott should have started - what if he'd started and we were beaten, or if he started and we won - we won anyway, Lescott is leaving at the end of the season lets just move on

Rubbish - the SKY commentators were dtermined to blame him too, but it was firstly Fernandinho for giving the ball away (again) and secondly Kompany, supposed to be sweeping behind Demichelis, who thought he'd be clever and try and nick it instead of sheparding him across.

Demichelis is 10 times the footballer Lescott is with the ball at his feet. Ideal for Wembley against Sunderland. Against another team he may have chosen Lescott. I also suspect DeM talks a lot to those around him, unlike Silent Jolene!

We won so very happy, JL has played his part, and it is a squad thing. He is not a fav or the manager and he has accepted that until summer when it will be good bye and thank you.

Lescott didn't play because our manager selected the team and he didn't feel that JL should play regardless of a few fans (who think they know better that Pellers) having an ongoing Lescott wankfest on the basis of little other than sentiment.
We won point proven and JL had his chance but didn't get selected for this one. Get over it and celebrate rather than trying to over-analyse huh?

I'd have picked Lescott over Demichelis yesterday but the manager thought otherwise.

The manager knows more about football than most of us on here Id wager, and we won the game so he would summise he was right.

Joleon now has a Prem Lge winners medal, an FA Cup Winners medal, a Community Shield winners medal, and now a League Cup winners medal which he earned for helping us get there and also being on the Judi Dench yesterday. In short he has a complete set, which is something he could have only dreamed of having left Everton .... why was it that he left again? Purely money wasn't it according to Everton??? Arf.

"Joleon Lescott, he's won the fookin lot!" - as has Hart, Zabba, Kompany, Kolarov, Milner, Ya Ya and Silva if my memory serves me.

I think Lescott, Demi and Nasty were all to blame for Sunderland's goal yesterday. Also Savic.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Did you forget Boateng?

I really don't like him, but I thought Demi was okay yesterday, don't think anyone is scapegoating him today.

Even on here there will be some but in the press and with pundits he is getting slaughtered.Maybe he is there to do a job and take the focus off others in the defence who make mistakes.

Maybe he doesn't want to risk JL with the Barca game on the horizon. If he got injured who would partner Vinnie with MD suspend and everyone else injured. Garcia anyone??

Was thinking the same. This is the only reason that makes sense to me. Lescott was more than capable of playing yesterday so the only reason he wouldn't play, after playing in every other minute of the tournament, would be through injury or suspension. Regarding the Barca game, Nasti is injured and Demi is suspended. Lescott is all we have left.

Demi had a decent game yesterday.

I wanted Lescott for a bunch of reasons, but Demi was fine.

Regardless of what any of us think -- the manager picked the side and we won. No point in saying "he got it wrong" when clearly he didn't.

cheers
