They are not changing the name ... Gary Neville was answering questions on Twitter yesterday and this Salford 92 came up, he said it'll be called Salford City FC ... lots suggesting to change to Salford United FC, and some taking a mickey out of him for calling it 'City' ... but nothing in it either way, when it was formed it was called Salford City so they simply keeping the same ...

Not quite accurate. It's Salford City they're taking over, not Trafford Rovers.

Salford City: Ryan Giggs and ex-Man Utd pros agree takeover

A consortium led by current and former Manchester United players has agreed to purchase non-league Salford City.

Subject to Football Association and Northern Premier League approval, the deal will be completed this summer.

Ryan Giggs, now a player-coach in his 24th season with United, said: "We want to use our football experience and knowledge to nurture young talent."

Former United team-mates Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville join Giggs in the venture.

More soon.

I saw it on the news this morning that they'd bought a club, which turned out to be Salford. Brilliant - they could have bought the rags but decided to go non-league instead. Maybe they'll try and headhunt Moyes.

The news unfairly mentioned how many places were between the sides. I mean, at least wait until the end of the season when the gap closes.
