Loved the way Brazil put so much effort into their National Anthem and wish we'd do the same. BUT, it looked like the juices were flowing and would lead to sadness.

Brazil haven't looked good at all and today is no different. I think most want to see the Brazil that are legend but I just don't see it. They've got good individual players but as a team, I'm not sure.

On another note, how many of these players we're seeing actually play in their home nations?

Brazil nowhere near the level of the teams of old.I thought Oscar was very good in the first half and Neymar worked very hard to get involved as much as he could.Still they have far to many average players in that side.

He had hold of him whilst he was turning, yes it was soft, but I can't really argue with it. In the strict sense of the word, it was a foul and thus a penalty

Home nation given a dodgy penalty to help them win the opening game.

Typical dodgy as fuck and a ref deciding a game. Wonder how much the officials have pocketed for this tournament.

Appalling penalty decision. Most little decisions going Brazils way. Perhaps the threat of violence on the streets if Brazil were to go out early is influencing referees?

Did you not see the theatrical fall? Awful, hometown decision.

I was thinking earlier that the overwhelming wave of emotion and unbearable sense of entitlement, that Brazil reminded me of Liverpool. After that penalty the resemblance is even stronger

It doesn't matter how he fell, the fact remains that it was a foul and he shouldn't have had his hands on him

What's a bigger issue is that there will be no consistency over that type of decision through the World Cup

Corrupt as fuck. Not a cat in hells that'd be given at the other end. Ref would be in fear of his life otherwise.

There won't be. If the law precludes any and all contact, then there should be a penalty given at every single corner. Weak refereeing and a blatant fall.

Barry Glendenning doing the MBM on the Guardian is as big a disgrace as Fifa and the Brazilian cheats.

He mentions in passing that it was never a penalty, then never mentions it again due to him being a snivelling coward.

Fucking hate these apologists for Fifa corruption.
